NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar - Trade Gun Class and my "Type G " pics

Matt, the explanation is simple - Optical Illusion! Those "slots" are actually my extra long barrel pins sticking up. I left them long so I could easily grab them with pliers to pull them out. If they get in the way I drive them down till they are sticking out the other side. Working with...

Thanks guys! Double Deuce - Here is a pic where you can kinda see the ramrod channel and forearm... I will try and take some better pics of those areas for you when I post an update. The ramrod pipes were made by first cutting sheet brass to size and annealing it. The brass rectangle...

    Building L/H flinter, tips???

Tip Curtis has some left hand locks and stocks I haven't seen available at other vendors. I would give him a try. I am currently building an early Lancaster squirrel rifle from parts I got from Tip. I would suggest an "A" weight swamped barrel, in .36 or .40 caliber.

Several years of rust, DARN HORSE

I would recommend using green "scotchbrite" on a jag if the steel wool isn't doing the trick.

    help soldering ramrod thimbles

There is some excellent advice given above on soldering the pipes. A neat trick I learned from a mentor is to run a brass rod through the thimbles, and use spring clips to hold the rod and thimbles to the rib. This keeps them from floating off center and perfectly aligned from front to back...
