Colt revolving rifle ( repro )

The first time I saw a revolving rifle, I thought the same thing. I'd rather shoot a modern bullpup instead of one of those things. Clutch

    Nipple Pick

I took the work in progress underhammer out today to shoot it even if it isn't done. I wanted to check out the heights of the sights to see if they were close. Well it was near enough to my aiming spot at 25 that I backed the target to out to 50. I get 3 shots off and then a pooft. First...

Loading .62 cal Colerain barrel needed

I ordered the .600 from lee get get something coming so I can shoot the rifle to figure out sights and stock fit. Thanks for the tip on Jeff Tanner incase I find myself wanting to go a bit bigger in diameter. I enjoyed the pictures of your underhammers on your website. Thanks, Clutch

Loading .62 cal Colerain barrel needed

I bought some .610's and it looks like the mould blocks had alignment problems. Bullet ran .613 to .617+ Couldn't drop it in barrel w/o a patch. Used some snap gages and mic's, barrel is .614+. So I wonder what sized patch material would work with a .600 . Is your barrel a Colerain? Clutch

    Underhammer Pistols

I am reading "Underhammer Guns" by Herchel C. Logan that my local library borrowed for me from a library in another State. There are a lot of underhammer pistols in this book. I'm thinking that I'd like to build one. Most likely a smoothbore since we run 12L14 at my shop and the bar end...

    Dumbest thing I ever did.

Heck, I fired the old lady, if I had a basement I'd do it. Expecially in the middle of a Michigan winter. Clutch

    Number 13

I read somewhere, maybe even on this board, that under the 'seasoning' of a barrel can be a layer of rust forming. It is possible that No13 got under the seasoning and revealed a layer of rust? Clutch

    Proofing a barrel

That was what uncle was thinking. I was a bit alarmed and he said he was willing to do a single ball with a double load and buy me a new barrel if it blew. The barrel in question is a Colerain .62 tapered. As far as cannon fuse, I don't have any. I have some saltpeter for a project that...

    Greetings from Germany

Btw, Gerold, we don't always talk standard english here so be carefull of what words you pick up. Unless you want to be a German Redneck  Your English is very good. My German is resigned to counting to 12 and saying thank you. Clutch

    Greetings from Germany

Welcome to the group. I lived on a US Army base near, pardon my phonetic spelling, "perlocker forrst". That was back in 1961-1963 and I was a small boy at the time. I have no idea where that was at in Germany. I can remember we were in Building 307-B4 and the day that John F. Kennedy was...

    Barrel Length vs velocity

I was readin the "Gunsmith of Grenville County" and he seems to be sayin' that barrel length over 24-26" is overkill. I'm thinkin that is smokeless thought. Can anyone point me to a thread where someone plotted barrel length vs velocity? Thanks, Clutch

    poor mans zep

Where did you order your balls at? I got a .62 my uncle is building for me that is rapidly nearing a test fire. I ordered some .610 balls to start with but it sure seems everyone that crosses the .60 line gets rather pround of their product and asks a proud price Clutch

    Installing barrel staples question

Thats a purty rifle. I'm about to start a topic on barrel length vs velocity. I was reading the "Gunsmith of Grenville County" and he seemed to think 24-26" was what gave best velocity for a barrel length. That sounds right for smokeless but I wonder about real black powder. Hear is a...

    Howdy from UP of Michigan

First thing, Howdy from a troll beneath the bridge. You live in the bestest part of Michigan. As far as shootin'. Unless they are about to throw sand over your face, you might as well go out and do what makes you happy. Take a cell phone with ya if the coverage works so she can check up on...
