    Powder Horn: Stupid Newbie Question

    TOW has small funnels... You could modify the horn if it does not fill from the rear (base plug). Depends on how large the hole is in the neck. I use a small funnel to fill mine through the neck... takes a while to fill it but it works.

    A solution of lye water was normally used to color cherry a rich red/brown color. About a teaspoon of lye to a quart of water. You could also use LM stains in place of the lye solution.

    Over-Looked Smoothbore

    Don't forget the Buccaneer muskets and American muskets that were made up from spare parts during the Revolution. Battle Weapons of the American Revolution has some good examples. I think we tend to overlook some of these examples of ingenuity.
