Very nice! Can't wait to see the finished product.

    Making your own percussion caps?

I think the energy needed to set off tannerite is higher than you get from a hammer. Also it doesn't generate much in the way of heat.

USPS and Track of the Wolf

I can confirm @nit wit takes "Tape is cheap!" seriously. :) ETA: My goodies from deercreekproducts made it intact.

USPS and Track of the Wolf

On another forum I frequent related to the unmentionables there has been a rash of ammo related shipments showing up empty or that go missing completely. Requiring a signature hasn't helped because the guy delivering it just signs themselves and drops it at the door, because covid and all. I'm...

    Latest Bag and Buckle Work

No offense taken and I completely agree machine stiched isn't close to the quality of hand stiched. What I meant by that is stitching is so uniform I had to look twice to see it was done by hand. My feeble attempts at it could never be mistaken for anything but bieng (poorly) hand stiched...

    Latest Bag and Buckle Work

That's some of the best leather work I've seen. It almost looks like it was stiched by machine. How did you do the buckle? I was thinking of making a couple for a project myself and would love to know the process that makes them come out like that.

    Spooky Trigger On MY CVA

If you're talking about adjusting a double set trigger there's some good advice here. It's usually assumed you won't set it until you're pointing at a target though so lighter is my preference. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/cva-double-set-triggers.97449/ If it a single action I...

Will this work for a barrel dunk reservoir ?

The low temp aluminum rod will work. I've used it on a row boat with good results. Look it up. They fill a hole in a soda can with it in the ad.

Wife says I have a problem

These are real problems but admitting you have a problem is the first step. I'm confident you'll overcome it.

Opinions please on Birchwood Casey Super Blue?

I've had good luck with BC on a few modern guns but it wasn't fantastic. Worn well on one for the last 25 years. I used BC Perma Blue paste on a cap pistol and I must have done it wrong because it was all streaks. I'm going to try LMF browning on the one I'm doing next. I never hear a bad word...

Stuck nipples in 1851 cylinder. Unknown maker.

I can't say I've had to remove a rusted nipple from a cylinder but I've done many similar things working on cars so take this post for the grease monkey methods they are. My go-to for small bolts are these, listed in order from least amount of damage possible to guaranteed success. A long soak...

    New shot pouch

Thats a great desing with a few new to me features. I like how you attached the top flap, it looks like it could take some rain without soaking into the leather. I also like how you have the flap over the inner pocket. That could help keep me from reaching in the wrong side of my bag fishing...

    Traditions pistol kit questions

Marking the bottom of the barrel is a great idea. That's what I'm going to do. Thanks for the advice and I apologize for the newbie questions. This wouldn't have been my first choice for my next project but now that I have it I figured I'd use it to learn new things. The vinegaroon thread was...

    Traditions pistol kit questions

Thanks for the link. I'm familiar with the idea of draw filing but haven't done it myself yet. Your right about them being laser cut so I guess now is the time to try my hand at it. I wouldn't mind leaving the caliber on the barrel but from what I've read here that might not be all that common...

    Traditions pistol kit questions

HI All, First I want to say thank you for all the great info you've all handed out. I've been reading on here for a while and have learned a lot but still have a long way to go. I have a Traditions pistol kit that came to me second hand and like my last kit from them it has a lot that need...

    Hi from Massachusetts

Thanks for the welcomes. As promised I searched my questions before posting. I found out my frizzen needs to be hardened and found a kind of local to me guy with a good reputation here to do it. It’s now on its way to Earl at http://flintlockrepair.com. I still have a lot of reading to do...
