    Pyrodex dilemma

I've been shooting bp exclusively since I got back into the sport. Like I said, I've finished the bp and now I'm going to use up my pyrodex. I'm anxious to see the differences in accuracy, charge volume, effectiveness after 20 yrs and fouling. It'll be interesting and I'll report back here after...

    Pyrodex dilemma

I love ya' Ozark57 and an Arkansan named A.J. Burnett is throwing tonight and will hopefully pitch my team to it's 27th World Championship, but hell, you take this stuff way more serious than I do. I like tight groups as much as the next guy but hearing the Enfield go boom while a battle line of...

    Pyrodex dilemma

I'm gonna go ahead and try and shoot it. This has nothing to do with pyro vs bp or being a purist or even the availability of bp. Like some of you have said and I second--I just hate throwin' good stuff out. The opinions here are great. Thanks.

    Pyrodex dilemma

I've had the pyro along with the bp for 20 yrs. The bp, which I've just finished, worked fine. Both powders were stored together in their original containers. I figure the pyro should work.I want to avoid ramming a minie down the barrel only to have nothing happen. I shoot strictly .58 minies...

    Pyrodex dilemma

Shooting again after a long layoff I'm just about finishing off my ffg and fffg powder. Sitting on the shelf are half canisters of 2f and 3f pyrodex. I only shoot percussion. Should I shoot off the pyrodex or get rid of it and order some more blackpowder? Charles

Does anyone know when the North South Skirmish Assoc. has it's fall shoot? I'd love to go down there and see this. Thanks.

    Stapler

I checked out Wichester Sutler. Looks like what I could use. Thanks.

    Stapler

I was thinking hot glue gun. Then I thought again, HOT glue gun and I figured that might not be the way to go. This all started from a desire to experience Civil War arms and armament. After shooting pre-made cartridges I quickly realized I could shoot 3 to 4 times as many rounds as before when...

    Stapler

This may be a little off the wall but before I proceed I'd like some input. I made paper cartridges circa 1863, twisted the ends, tied it off with some floss. Worked fine. Now I want to make paper tubes with powder loads except for expediency's sake, I want to fold the ends over and staple them...

    Friendship, In

Has anyone ever been to a shoot at Friendship? I'd have to drive about 1600 mi roundtrip. Would it be worth it?

    1861 Springfield sights

The rifle shoots high, right. The rear sight is a V, and the front sight a triangle. Neither is movable. What would I have to do to get this rifle on the bullseye other than compensate and aim low left?

    Baker Rifle

Anyone have one of these? If so, how does it handle and where can I get one?

Correct Ammo for a .44 Colt Army

I just finished a box of .457 Hornady roundballs for my 1860 Colt Army. Now I'm seeing that a .44 should be shooting .454 or .451. The gun shot nice groups, a nice shaved ring of lead when I rammed each ball home but I have to say, it did seem like alot of effort. Should I stick with what works...

    Civil War Paper Cartridges

One more question if I may--- Can anyone recommend a lube to use on the minie? And, should this lube also be used in the base of the bullet? For years I've been using a grease that get's all over everything and I finally read the tube and it says-"patch lube." Jeez!

    Civil War Paper Cartridges

Can anyone instruct me or refer me to a book or site that shows one how to make a paper cartridge of the type used during the war? Specifically for my .58 Enfield.Thanks. Charles

    Flintlock pan powder

Hi Dom, I couldn't find your e-mail in your profile but how ya' doin'? If you know of any shops that sell flintlocks and powder it would be nice to know. Do you remember, about 20 yrs ago (maybe longer) there used to be a club, L.I. Muzzleloaders. I'd see them down at Calverton all the...

    Flintlock pan powder

Hey again, The information here is priceless. So I'm shopping around online for a flintlock and it's becoming clear that the rifles are out there but 4Fg powder is nowhere to be found. As a tyro to flintlock I'm being told 3F powder will work fine as the priming charge. The main charge just...

    Flintlock Southpaw

I appreciate all the comments but when Brown Bear talked about a "chard" getting buried in his face and a scalpel and stitches.... well I started feeling something warm and moist running down my leg. When I said "cheap" I just meant I wasn't going to have a lefty built just yet. My intersts lie...
