    1851 navy cylinder problem

the gun is at half cock. I took it off that way and just slid right off. but can't get over that protrusion to get it back in. i clean the area put a drop of oil on it butcylinder just stops and won't go over it. shouldn't have to force it.

    1851 navy cylinder problem

Just received my used 1851 Navy Colt .36 cal. (Pietta manufactured) and took off the barrel and cylinder to clean it all up before taking it out. However can't get the cylinder back on over that spring loaded protrusion in the frame. Is there a trick or do I have a problem? Also, where can I...

    London Navy

they are nice. was just wondering what the "London" designation was about since even the standard '51s were in service by the U.S. and British military.

    London Navy

How does the 1851 Navy London (from Uberti) differ from the other 1851 navy models?

    1851 Navy query

looking at 1851 Navy .36 cal for my next purchase. It will be a steel frame either Pietta or Uberti probably. Question is about proper ammo and charge. Been told that a .375 ball would be best with a 20-25 charge and #10 caps. What's the forum's opinion? thanks.

    best ramrod

It's thin stainless. I think bob is right--too much rod between my hand and the muzzle. I do use a bullet starter so this happened as I was pushing it the rest of the way down. wondering if after 8 or 9 rounds there was a buildup of soot that held the ball and patch too tightly making it even...

    best ramrod

I'd like to know what you folks think is the best quality ramrod. Thought I had a good one but I actually bent it trying to push the last two RBs down the barrel.

    FIT OF PERCUSSION CAPS

finally got to the range today and the #11 CCI caps worked just fine. I had one misfire out of a dozen shots and it was probably my fault. but i will try out the 1075s when i can find them.

    FIT OF PERCUSSION CAPS

just bought cci #11 percussion caps for my Investarms .50 cal. Hawken type. havent' shot them yet but they seem a bit loose on the nipple. should i crimp the bottom a bit to get a tighter fit? Not sure but I think #10s would be too small. Also, should I fire off a couple of caps before loading...

Where to buy #11 percussion caps ??

could 209 primers be used in place of--or in addition to #11 percussion caps on my Hawken style .50 cal.? bought 209s by mistake and probably can't return them. will it hurt the gun in any way? or will they fail to ignite the Triple Se7en I'm using?

    Pyrodex Cleaning issues?

I knew I made a mistake. Didn't know you needed an adaptor. Only got them because I couldn't find #11 caps. got all my other supplies. will probably return the primers and hold off until I can get the #11s and maybe a backup can of black powder. thanks for the help

    Pyrodex Cleaning issues?

Just made the leap and picked up a .50 cal. Investarms sidelock. haven't shot it yet. I bought the Hodgdon Triple Se7en FFG and a pack of Winchester Triple Se7en 209 primers. Did I do the right thing? don't yell at me it was all I could get:)
