Has anyone ever bought a loaded gun before

Never bought one myself because the prices just werent right. Went and looked at a Renegade couple months back. There was corrosion around the nipple and first thing I thought was it had to be loaded still. I ran the rod down and it stopped about 4 inches short. I handed the rifle to the owner...

    T/C hammer problem??

All mine have had the same tight clearance also. I did get an original short nipple though and the clearance is about a 1/4 inch though. Last year when I was hunting with the thing I was so scared I was gonna drop the hammer on the nipple when releasing it from full cock. The lock had a horrible...

    WOW I AM RETARDED!!!

HAHAHA glad everybody is getting a kick out of this. I told my wife about it and she just shook her head at me and mumbled something under her breath. Oh and I have been thinking could someone edit the title and put special instead of retarded??? I dont feel like it is politicaly correct to...

    WOW I AM RETARDED!!!

Ok so today I was messing with a .54 Renegade barrel today trying to finish some rust removal. Ran the rod down with some scotchbrite on it and pulled it out all clean yay. Decided to pull my plug out of the nipple hole and oh no nothing comes out. Great been working on a loaded barrel this...

Picked up a T/C Hawken today

Very nice gun. I have been nothing but pleased with every T/C that I have ever touched. I got my father one last year for christmas but he has yet to shoot it. Blasphemy I tell you.

    T/C set trigger not "setting"

Im guessing the screws on the inside portion of the lock are loose. I was having the same issue with one of my T/C locks and that was the problem. Just make sure everything is aligned properly before you tighten them back down.

Any reason not to fire this?

I agree with everybody else on here. Do not shoot it out. Either try to pull it or use the CO2 method. Goodluck to you either way. Please post results.

    First BP rifle suggestions? MI

I myself have never had any experience with that particular rifle but I am sure its not too far off what my dad hunts with. I myself use a T/C Renegade in 50 cal and have nothing but praise for it. My only suggestion is do your research and dont rush into any purchase. Thompson Centers will not...

    temtations , temtations

Haha we have the same problem when we are shooting qualification for M16 in the military. Part of our briefing before heading to the range includes "do not shoot any animals" I guess somebody at some point took out a rabbit.

OK, Who Makes Good, Inexpensive Rifles?

You could always check ebay for a wooden stock to swap all your parts from your bobcat over to. Than sell the bobcat stock on ebay and recoupe some of your money. Or even post it on here. If you were anywhere near me you could find what I consider to be cheap T/C renegades or Hawkens or any of...

    Found a Renegade

I say do your best to find a good Renegade. I paid 25 cash for mine and havent been happier. Took my first deer with it last year and plan to stuff more in the freezer for many more years to come. I am expecting a call back for another one here in a bit for 75 cash out the door. The deals are...

    Finally pics of my smokers...

This Bobcat originally had the fixed sights on it as well. I had a rear sight laying around from my CVA kentucky that was pretty much worthless so I moved it onto the bobcat. My Dad hunts with a Traditions Deer Hunter and he has done pretty good with it. Im gonna keep the Bobcat for the wife...

    Finally pics of my smokers...

Yeah the Hawken is gonna be used primarily by my father for hunting and we really dont go all out to be historicaly accurate. Once I get my custom built gun I will deffinately go toward being more historical. Thank you for the heads up about the loads and the gun kicking like a mule. I seem to...

    Finally pics of my smokers...

Above is my first Muzzleloader. It is a T/C Renegade in .50 cal. I paid a whopping 25 dollars for it off of my now ex-brother in law. I took my first deer with this rifle back in October hunting with my Father. My first deer also happened to be a good size 6 pt buck. Here we have just a CVA...
