    CVA Woodsman?

Well I got my hands on it. It's a sidelock rig. Not a heck of a lot differant than a hawken-type. It's got a single trigger and a shorter dollop of wood under the barrel but other than that it's not too much differant. Shoots fine and only looks a little rough. Not too bad for a freebie.

    CVA Woodsman?

Well maybe He told me wrong. But I'm lookin forward to seeing it this weekend. I've not been lead astray yet from the folks on this forum. So I'm inclined to think he might be tellin me wrong. I guess we'll see.

    CVA Woodsman?

Well I've not seen it yet, but on the phone my Brother (who knows nothing about B.P. rigs) read Connecticut Valley Arms....Woodsman .50 cal. use black powder only. I'd never heard of one that's why I posted the question here.

    CVA Woodsman?

My brother bought a modern shotgun yesterday, and the Fella at the pawn shop threw in a CVA Woodsman to sweeten the deal. Anybody out there ever owned or used on of these? I've not seen it yet but I'm anxious to get my hands on it. With it being a CVA I can't see it being anything but great. And...

    "rendering "a smoothy

Hey all. I got one too many .50's. One Italian knock-off hawken started grouping very poorly. I've sent it to my old high school shop teacher to machine it smooth for me. The man's a very competent gunsmith and I feel good about it. I was wondering if any of y'all have done this. It seems the...

    TC Greyhawk?

I just bought one my own self. A buddy of mine has had one for years. He used his to take a national title back in 93. I knew when I had the chance that I'd get me one. Anyway...I took the one I bought (used for $100) out and BOOYAH!! It's a tack-driver just like his. It's my seventh capper and...

    Need advise on Powder making.

Well thanks for pointing that out. Until now it never occured to me that it would be forbidden. Now that I've read the rules I'll be sure not to ask such questions in the future. No harm meant at all, at all.

    straightening deer antler

Yes you can straighten antler. The boiling process will work fine. The real problem you'll have with it is the size. If it's only four inches long you're gonna be hard pressed to find a good way to apply leverage. The vice idea would work with added patience and added padding. Don't go straight...

    Need advise on Powder making.

Hey All, I've been having just a little trouble finding sulfur hereabouts. I guess the days of finding it in every harware store around are gone. I bought some "Hi-Yeild" dusting sulfur today. When I got it home I noticed that it's 90% sulfur and 10% inert ingredients. Will this stuff make a...

    '51 Navy for carry?

I've seen some really good conversation on this one. I actually agree with both views on the open-carry given differant situations. However, I'm seeing a lot of folks leaning toward the trusty .357 or .45 acp for carry and home defense. Even saw a mention of an SKS for home defense. I own guns...

    Point of impact question.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take these notes to the range tomorrow and try em out. I'll be sure to let ya know how it works out.

    Point of impact question.

Actually I've done moved the rear all the way to the left and bumped the front so far to the right that it looks just plumb goofy. That's how I got it shootin closer. This is one of them Italian rigs. I can't think of the maker just now. It's out in the truck right now or I'd look and see. I...

    Point of impact question.

Hey Fellers. I got a question for Y'all. I got me a .50 capper a few years back. Shot it with the Buffler Bullets and was puttin em in tight at 50 yards off-hand. Got back from Iraq here awhile back and switched over to PRB. Now she's hittin about four inches to the right. I crowded the...

    .45 pig balls?

I've put 'em down with my osage longbow pushing obsidian tips. I've been chased around a bit and followed more than one arrow with side-arm rounds. Range isn't an issue as the last sow I took was at about 10-12 yards. I'm just real eager to use this particular rig for hunting. I've got a .50...

    .45 pig balls?

Hey Y'all thanks for the opinions. I guess I'll just have to wait for next deer season to make meat with this one. But hey, there's always squirrels and what-not. Thanks again. :redthumb:

Need some revolver advice from the pros

Thanks for the link. That looks a lot like the Uberti Millenium. Anyone know what the $$ differance is between the two? DGW is running the Uberti for 215. I actually prefer the fixed sights for the abuse I'll be putting the rig through.

Need some revolver advice from the pros

Thank you all for the info. I'm a bit of a traditionalist so I'm thinking on going for the Uberti this next time out. Then again I have never met a Ruger I didn't like...... Either way, I'm a little better informed. Thanks again.

Need some revolver advice from the pros

Hello all. I'm new to the board but not the hobby. Here's my question..... I've had three revolvers in my time and have had to work on all of them more often than I'd like.(2 colts and a Remington...all Pietta) Who makes the best quality Remington repro in your more experianced opinions? I use...
