    Smooth bore pistol bullet question

My Grandpa has a .69 caliber smooth bore flintlock "horse pistol" and one of his friends gave him a bag of about 25 conical bullets for it. My question is, would there be any advantage/disadvantage shooting conicals from a smoothie? especially with such a short barrel?

    Walsh 12 shot Revolver

I was reading a short story by Louis L'Amore (actually I was listening to Wille Nelson read me a Short story by Luis) and in it he talked about a Walsh 12 shot navy gun. Does anyone have any information on this thing?

    Kentucky pistol kit help

Thanks for the tips guys. I shortened the screw and worked on the stock all night after work. Got my first coat of stain on it, We'll see how she looks tonight. This is my first pistol kit and I'm going to give it to my Dad in a presentation case for fathers day. I bought 2 of these kits, as I...

    Kentucky pistol kit help

I'm working on a Traditions Kentucky pistol kit at the moment and it seems like the recess for the trigger and trigger guard is too deep. When I screw the tang screw all the way in it protrudes too far through the trigger and blocks the trigger guard from sitting properly. My question is should...

    .36 for deer?

I'm sure a .36 would ruin a cyote's day. Shot placement is still key.

    How accurate to be ethical

I want no more than 2" from point of aim. That's shooting off hand at 100 yards. From a rest it needs to be tighter, that gives me a little bit of room for error when buck fever kicks in.

Caps not going off on first hammerfall

Yup, same thing was happening to me with my .45 kentucky rifle. I had the lock too tight. Did you try losening it up yet?

best small game hunting pistol ?

That's up to you. The sights on both are rudimentary(sp?) at best. My preferred side arm is the 1860 army, so I kinda like the looks of the 61, but the 51 is a classic and may fit your hand better. Handle both and see how they feel.

    .36 for deer?

After seeing a couple of people really mess up headshots I won't use anything smaller than a .50 and go for the heart/lung shot. It has never failed me so far.

    Davy Crockett

The DVD had both, I Like the King of the wild frontier the most.

    Davy Crockett

HondoLane and I were at the best buy here in town the other day and they had the Disney version of Davy Crockett on sale, so of course we both had to have it. I watched it again last night and could not help but to laugh at some of the guns they used. It also seems like they used at least 75...

    fixing leaky breech plug ?

I would send it back explaining the problem and give whoever you bought it from a chance to make it right. No need to walk them up the gallows until you give them a shot as they probably didn't know it had a problem like that when they shipped it.

    Colt shooters

I have an 1860 army and my Grandfather has a 51 Navy. I prefer the army as the grip seems to fit my hand better. I also like the .44 for civil war reenacting as it makes a bigger boom. I shoot 25g fff under a 451 round ball over a wonder wad.

    Range Day!

Well Hondo Lane and I spent the day at the gun club down here in Tomball on Sat. and I finally got a load worked up that my CVA frontier rifle really likes. It is however a pretty stout one. With a .490 PRB and a .15 patch over 100 grains of pyrodex P (I know I was shocked too) I dinged the...

    "second" or "back -up" piece

I pig hunt with a CVA frontier rifle in .50 and carry a Walker revolver to feel like Gus Mcrae. I'm in the process of picking out a .50 kentucky pistol kit to carry from here on out though as I would like to have one that shoots the same ball as the rifle. I may carry both depending on how...

Thanks for the help guys. Everything worked out great. Now it's just time to stain the stock and then the magical process of figuring out what load she likes.

Need advice for first kit build

A buddy of mine picked up an invest arms hawken from Cabelas and we are having some trouble with it. The brocure reads that their macine work is so precise that little to no inletting is required. We quickly deduced what a load of equine manure that was. The lock didn't fit at all, so we...
