    FFFFF priming powder?

Roundball, it could well be that I was making some other dumb mistake. Hard to fix a problem that was so long ago. I probably shouldnt have bothered the group with it, but all this time I have thought it was the 5F maybe. I didnt realize how odd 5f was back then, and after I learned more I...

    FFFFF priming powder?

I just read the thread, "alternatives to 4f" and learned a good bit. Maybe answered my own question. I just thought the 5F was wierd and obviously so rare, maybe it was a failed test? Sure didnt work for me, but I dont claim to know what makes a flintlock run good. Jeff

    FFFFF priming powder?

Hi, I had a flintlock about 10 years ago, it was from cabelas, not sure of the brand, but I'm almost 100% sure it was a .58 I could never get it to set off the main charge. I think out of about 50 tries, it actually shot 3 times. The pan would flash most every time, but never set off the...

    Second stupidest thing...

Thats awesome bdarin! Laughed my butt off. :: Your story is great too Cravin... :: But I have probably only shot my new Great Plains Rifle 20 times?, and have already caught myself starting a patched ball with no powder. (I was able to pull it out of the barrel by the patch, but it was close)...

    Pyrodex

I use real 2f black for .45lc, 12g-shells, cap&ball pistols, my .54 muzzleloader, and my 12g muzzleloader. Unless... I dont have time to run to the one store in 50 miles that sells the stuff. Then I drive less than 2 miles, and park easily at Walmart or Sportsmans Warehouse, and get Pyrodex RS...

    Hello from Colorado

Hello all, I am a cowboy action shooter, and have a blast with it, but I also have always loved muzzleloaders, and Rocky Mountain fur trade stuff. I recently bought a Lyman Great Plains Rifle, .54cal, which I think has instantly become my favorite gun, and some clothes from the Rocky Mountain...

Loading a revolver from flask or powder measure?

I have shot hundreds if not a thousand or so, rounds thru cap and ball revolvers. Every last one of them was loaded from a flask, with a pre-measured spout on it. Never gave the flask a second thought. To be honest, the only reason I use a powder horn to pour into a measure with my muzzle...
