Left handed flintlocks on a budget??

Call TVM and ask them about the level of the kit. Matt is very helpfull. They are good people to work with.

    Weight of TVM EV

My TVM EV has a Longhammock half round barrel, cant help you with the weight with your barrell but I shoot 75gr of 3F PRB very light recoil, kills deer as well as my 30-06 does. The wide flat butt on these rifles make them easy to shoot.

    cva bobcat

You can fill the stock with expanding foam. Place lead in to increase weight. The foam will keep the stock from being so noisy in the woods.

    Caplock vs Flint

Mr Flintlock is correct, flintlocks need to be setup properly ( polished and hardened) to work well. In a flint you get what you pay for most of the time. Caplocks are not as hard to make work properly.

carrying a flintlock in the woods

When hunting I load the rifle when I leave the truck half cock and primed. When I get to my stand if climing I dump the prime, after settling in the stand I reprime the rifle. Only use lock covers in the rain.

    Jag stuck

Would the bleach cause damage to the bore? I read a article on aging steel with bleach several years ago. How long would it take to degrade the patch? I do not know just asking.

Several years ago a friend bought a CVA for $75.00 at a pawn shop. After checking it over have never seen a bore that bad. Used steel wook on a jag, the bore cleaned up very well. Has taken a couple of deer with the rifle. Just take your time it will probley be ok.

best way to clean a fullstock FL?

The cleaning clamp can be bought at Track or Dixie. Works real well. one word of advice remove the liner from the vent. Water can leak from the screw slot on some liners.

    Lead

I quinch bullets for my centerfire rifles but not my RB. It does harden wheelweights. Makes a differance in leading in my 45-70 Sharps.

    DIY bullet traps

I use two rows of old tires filled with sand. After a year of use the two in the middle are fairly shot up. I replace the shot up tyres and shift the sand to recover the lead.

    A little preseason scout...

OK now I have to get me a .36.
  18. R

    Proof Testing

I have a custom built by Don Krammer. In the patch box was a note stating the rifle was proofed with 200 gr of powder and two round balls. Good luck
  19. R

    Lead

Pure lead is best, but wheel weights work. I have shot them in my rifles for years. I get them free at work. With a round ball the patch grips the barrel not the ball. Minie balls and real type require pure lead.

    .54 cal

As others have said each rifle has its likes and dislikes. I have two 54s and the one I hunt with uses 75gr of 3F the other is best with 90gr of 2F. The only way you will know is to shoot the rifle. Oh well it gives a excuse to go shooting.
