I got some great feedback on my Sitting Fox topic.
How about the TMV Southern Poor Boy?
Starts at $950 finished, and $850 "in the white".

Does "in the white" mean completely assembled with no finish (stain/bluing)?

I am interested in hearing peoples experiences with TMV muzzleloaders.

Thanks,
Tim

Every maker/vendor has a different definition of "in the white". The only way to get an answer is to call them and ask. Some are essentially a 'build it yourself' with only barrel channel cut and ramrod hole drilled. Everything else is up to you. Some are essentially built guns you have to sand, finish and brown. Many are somewhere inbetween. I think the ones with the greatest spread between 'finish' price and 'white' price require you to do more work. Those with the least spread, less work. But don't bank on it, ask.

I own a tvm southern rifle and owned a early lancaster.both of mine have been well made reliable good shooting rifles.I have friens who own more expensive rifles and while they may be a little prettier but i havent really seen them shoot any better. ive killed plenty of deer with mine.

TVM rifles are of very fine quality built by Matt Avance who is a great builder to talk with. In-the-white means a fully built/assembled gun that will leave minor wood to be sanded off for the trimness you want. It will need to be stained/sealed/finished and the barrel will need bluing/browning.

I've got a TVM SMTN rifle 40 cal, even though I bought it off Gunbroker unfired Matt and crew were more than helpful to help me get "ole smokey" up and going...she shoots less than 1" groups @ 60yds.Like Hanshi said their in the white is pretty complete!!! Based on my dealings with them I have 58 cal early va on order!!! Hopefully they'll get around to building it soon, they do have a back log though...my deposit was done in march

I have two TVMs One Early Viriginia and a pistol. Very well made, I ordered them plain for a hunting weapon. Very pleased will be in touch with them in the spring to order a .36 southern rifle.
