    2 questions on Rem 58; 44 cal

Thanks for the help. Just so you know it is a 25 FOOT zero. Not a 25 yard. at 25 yds it is about 4-6 inces low left.

    Technical question

I have a Rem. 58 44 caliber. The little pin that turns the cylinder when the pistol is cocked (I don't know the tech. name for it) is not square. One of the corners is rounded out. Is this from wear and tear or is that the way they are supposed to be?

    2 questions on Rem 58; 44 cal

Ok here it goes. I have 2 questions here. First: I am using a 40 grain fffg charge with a conical(180 grain buffalo bullet) then a wad with a little grease for some lube. It fits!! And is fairly accurate up to 25 yards, but I am worried that maybe I will explode the cylinder or barrel is 40...

    American Pioneer Powder???

I bought some Goex but again it says a blackpowder substitute and it is made (in part) by Pioneer Powder! Whats the story here? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

    NewGuy questions

I have done both. Left the charge in and shot it off and reloaded. Never had a problem with either. BUT if you do foul your barrel for more accuracy I would definatley clean that out. Besides what does it matter to shoot the load clean the gun and reload early the next morning say around 3:30...

    SwampRat, it's all your fault

    SwampRat, it's all your fault

Great pic of the target. :applause: Good shooting too. Do you have a pic of the Iron that did this?

    Is this load too much!?!?!?!?

I worked up a load to 35 grains with a wad and then a connical and then some grease (to be safe). Hits dead on at 85 feet and you gotta hold on to it with both hands and maybe a foot! Beautiful results and an excellent hunting load. :)

Question for Zonie (and everyone else)

GREAT SHOOTING :applause: :applause: :applause: Yes it does help. Thanks. If I get my rifle sighted in like that it's not gonna matter cuz You'll still hit a vital if you can keep 'em in the 8 inch plate!!!

Question for Zonie (and everyone else)

Although what you said makes sense, I prefer the sheer knock down power to penetration. A slug that weighs 375 grains as opposed to one that weighs 150 grains is going to provide more no matter how you look at it. True enough a RB probably does have enough to do the job VERY well, but it is my...

    American Pioneer Powder???

Thanks for the heads up. :v I will have to get some Goex and give that a try. Seems to me that the majority like it better. So what will it hurt to try it and see for myself? Thanks again.

Question for Zonie (and everyone else)

Thanks for the :bull: ! I got a lot of laughs and a little info. I will try to work up a new powder charge and play around with the loads. I will let you all know the results in a few days or so.

    American Pioneer Powder???

I use American Pioneer Powder but never knew that there was such a difference in powders. Could someone that is familiar with this powder explain what the difference is? I have heard that it will burn hotter. How much hotter? is it safe? Is it a good powder (in your experience) to use? Thanks in...

Question for Zonie (and everyone else)

Thanks for the help with zeroing the 'bobcat'! Now that I have it zeroed in at 75 yards with a ball and patch, do I need to re-zero it for a 375 grain connical? I am guessing that I do, or is it so minimum that I can just adjust or some other technique I dont know of?

    HELP!!!! Bobcat question

Thanks everyone!!! I am off this weekend to get that group DEAD CENTER at one hundred yards. I will make sure I file just a bit at a time too. :winking: :applause: :applause: :applause:

    HELP!!!! Bobcat question

I have a CVA "bobcat" or "mountain stalker" .50 Cal. I know, I know its a cheapy but its my first muzzleloading rifle. I have owned many revolvers but thought I would try the rifles out. My revolver is more accurate than the rifle. At 25 yards taking a full sight picture(top of the front sight...
