    Is A 28 ga Enough?

Well I believe if you get that barrel your looking at shooting turkeys within 25yds. General something for the more advance turkey hunter to do, because you got to pass on shots that would be easy for other options. But if you want to do it for the challenge that is another story. Purrs and...

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

The patter from spence there shows that it is out of my comfort zone to take a turkey at that range. I would try the 7-1/2 to increase the density. if trying to get to 30yds with that gun I would buy some hevi shot 7's. It would tighten it up and increase pellet count. But every gun is different.

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

what do you think your maximum distance you would be willing to limit yourself to? I know 1150fps with 7-1/2's has enough energy for a clean kill shooting them in the head/neck out to 25yds. at those short ranges the small shot works fine. There are 125 more pellets in a 1oz load of 7-1/2...

    Is A 28 ga Enough?

probably will not know until you pattern. with the smaller gauges for turkeys you do not want bigger than 6's and maybe even 7-1/2's depending on the range the 6's provide. your trying to hit a target the size of a pencil when shooting turkeys. Killed them with 410's and 7-1/2s out to...

    Lead melting pot

Just bought a Palmer pot 2 from bass pro since I was there. it was $50 there but saw it on line for $35. Like the idea of being able to put the mold in the lead to heat the mold and pour straight from the pot. Think pour from the pot might work better since the lead is still hot during pour...

    best glue

If I were doing it. I would knock off the brass put in a colored vaneer, or piece of yellow heart, or a piece of hickory and use titebond 2. Built bows with titebond two and the wood breaks before the tite bond does. TB2 does not foam swell like garilla either. CA is good but is hard and will...

    Gun Kits, ADifferent Twist

Tradtions kits from what I seen take about 14-20 hours of work to complete. I spent that much time plus puttin in my breach plug. Depends on what you want to do. I will tell you this first build from parts is well and eye opener. I would go parts kit and learn from it. Its not the finished...

    Gun build video at Williamsburg.

Wish I had that man's talent. This is a PBS show I watch several months back that I sent to a buddy. He said those were Men back then, I told him those were Craftsmen back then. Amazes me just to see it done. My arms and hands would be dead trying to build it like that...

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

000 buckshot is .36 not .38 and with .018 patch it would not even fill the bore of my 40 barrel. Do you pour your own that are .38 or could they be .390?

    Gun Kits, ADifferent Twist

So very true. I'm finding my parts gun is probably going to run higher because of tools I don't have already. I'm a desk jockey geek at work / Hobby wood worker turning my Daddy was a machinist and taught me some when growing up. I'm building my gun now and let me tell you my hands are sore...

    Flintlock purchase question

Can't imagine why anyone living in Charleston wanting to shoot a percussion rifle much less a flint lock. I'm in the process of building a percussion 40cal for small game and hogs and so far it has cost a good bit more than just the parts cost. You have to throw in a bunch of tools and...

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

If I were you I would at the 36 or 40. You can still find stuff for the 36cal (balls/Conical/Rifles). 40cal your ordering ball or making them. I'm building my 40 cal. rifle, hope it comes out.

    Leather patched ball?

Two choices. on this cause I tried something similar and well, just say fail. LOL. Choice one: have your gun bore to smooth bore and shoot shot for the small game. Choice two and is a good excuse to buy/build a new gun. on and one more but you have to check your regs shootem in the head. Just...
