    Overball grease in HOT weather

I dropped grease and went to over powder felt wads. Much better where I live 80 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

    Sights on Lyman GPR

Fixed for me. The adjustable was too hard for me to see. The fixed sight I can see clearly. Must be my eyes. Go figure.

    Any Texas Goin Traditional?

Howdy Jake, I'll be hunting Sam Houston National Forest with my TVA .50 flint Tennessee Rifle or my .54 GPR caplock for deer or hogs. My other hunting area is a farm my buddy manages in New Waverly. Anybody ever hunted in the National Forests? I'm leery doing of doing that. Never know what...

    Enlarging Minie Sizer

Anvil, The rifle won't group worth a hoot with a Minie sized down to .575, a .577 isn't much better. The Minies I have come from a shooter that has a Rapine Minie .580 mold. He pushes them through a .580 sizer to make sure they're uniform. I tried them and they were just what the doctor...

    Enlarging Minie Sizer

I have a Minie Ball sizer from Dixie Gun Works. Uniformly sizes Minies to .575. Since my Enfield takes a .580 Minie, how can I carefully open up this sizer to .580? Thanks.

    Rifled Musket sighting

David, Thanks for the information. I will give that a try the next time out at the range. Since I'm a reenactor I don't want to alter my Enfield. If I had a second rifle I would replace the front sight with a taller sight. :grey:

    Rifled Musket sighting

I'm using a Rapine Old Style 460 grain Minie with 60 grains of 2f or 3F. Off the bench at 50 yards it's hitting about eight inches high, more or less.

    Rifled Musket sighting

Howdy gents. I've been lurking for a long time. What I haven't been able to find out is how do you fellows that shoot the rifled muskets hold your sights? By that I mean when I shoot my Enfield at 50 and 100 yards I have to aim low to hit the bull, and this with the sight at its lowest...

    Flintlock woes

Wes, Thanks for the information. I'll start with a shorter flint and see if that cures the problem. I've been using 3/4 x 7/8 flints. I'll try the 3/4 square flints. If not I'll check with the folks at TVM.

    Flintlock woes

Howdy the Forum. I've been a lurker for awhile. Decided I'd post a question for the group. I have an L&R lock on my TVM Tennessee Mountain Rifle. Now I've been shooting a flintlock for the past three years; I've shot caplocks for 20. Whenever I snap the lock to see the color and amount of...
