    Where to hunt Feral Pig?

The best states to hunt feral hog are Texas, Florida and California. I know they are found in some isolated pockets in the north but you really need to have some sort of inside knowlegde. As an example in southwestern New Hampshire there is a large private hunting preserve called Corbin Park. It...

Homemade deer calls and how to use them......

Deer calling can be tricky. I called in one buck using a doe bleat last year. Unfortunately I did not get him. This year I spotted a large doe at 80 yards distant from my archery stand. I blew a couple of bleats on my call and she completely ignored the sound. Kept on walking to her...

    primitive hunting tactics

I would say use whatever method would be most successful. I know here in southern New England the best bet is a treestand in the right place. You could still hunt or stalk through some woods but the chances of pushing game into someone else is too great. I have done it enough to realize that I...

    Replacing lead bullets

I believe all of us see this as a big crock of you know what. Now may I ask a question? Could one make a bullet out of bismuth? I know it is used in non toxic shot but would it work well as a single projectile?

No License needed in FLA for Boar

If you don't mind, please let me know who you went with. We're planning a trip to Florida sometime in February and I plan to do some wild hog hunting. I have been doing some internet searches for places to go. Some are very expensive. Thanks

Do you prefer to hunt from the trees or the ground for deer?

Not to sound like a real stick in the mud but I do see a problem with that seat. It appears you are leaning forward a lot. I had a seat that would do that and it became very uncomfortable. I finally got rid of it.

Do you prefer to hunt from the trees or the ground for deer?

For me, it is 90% treestand. Here in Southern New England there isn't enough room in my opinion to properly still hunt deer. You can but you run the significant risk of pushing deer into other hunters. I have done it enough times to realize that I am better off to hunt from some sort of stand.

    Adequat roedeer cal?

My father's friend was stationed in Berlin back in the 1960's. He went through the program to obtain a Jaegerbrief(SP) and had taken some roe deer. I believe he used a 22 Hornet if I am not mistaken. I think a .45 caliber muzzleloader using a roundball would be perfect for them. So it is...

    PA's Muzzleloader Doe Season

I wish you the best of luck. My Dad and I were talking the other day about a trip somewhere next year. I made the comment about a week of Penn Archery and a week of the early antlerless muzzleloader.

    30 years on Prudence Island.....

Those are some wonderful images. I need to take a day trip to Prudence one of these days. It does look like a treestand may not be the best means of hunting with the size of the trees. It appears many trees are shrub like vs tall and straight like that on the mainland. By the way. Did you see...

    NY goes bezerk with licenses

That is an excellent deal but what is the success rate for a non resident hunter? Also, what are the chances of someome without any connections have heading down to the Dominion State for a nice hunt? I do like the idea of taking an elk that crosses the state line.

    NY goes bezerk with licenses

Well look at what Connecticut did. They doubled everything. If you are a non resident you will have to shell out $234 to hunt muzzleloader in the Nutmeg State. That is one deer on state land or two on private land which requires written permission and can be hard to get.

    Shoot Shack

Don't complain about having only thirty yards for a range at your home. Think about all of the people who have to travel for an hour or two to get to the nearest range they can use.

How tough are the mountain men?

If I am not mistaken, Winfred Blevins authored Give Your Heart To the Hawks. In that work my memory seems to recall a chapter on Mountain Medicince. The focus of the work was on the medical issues that mountain men faced. From what I remember the average lifespan of a Rocky Mountain Fur trapper...

    R.O.A.

There is a gunsmith by the name of Dave Clements who deepens the chambers of the ROA so you can add a few more grains of powder. From what I understand you can gain 50 to 100 fps by such a move. I plan to send my gun out to a man in Maine for some work. I tried to mount a taller front sight...

    Hunting with a flinter

P-Town as it is known in the area is Provincetown Massachusetts. It is the first location where the Pilgrims landed on their way to the new world. P-Town is basically the San Francisco of the East Coast. Mary and I went there for a day trip and as a couple we stood out as being odd in the...
