    Kibler Fowler available.

I would go with this product in the walnut color. https://www.constantines.com/woodperfectgrainfiller.aspx Sometimes a darker black color is preferred on walnut and in this case, I would probably try to mix a little black transtint dye or some of our boneblack with it. Walnut color alone will...

    Kibler Fowler Arrived!

Thinner barrel wall. Less safety factor. Less accurate than a 20 guage as well.

    Kibler Fowler Arrived!

Sorry, not able to modify the stock length. With some work, you could probably cut the stock back and re-fit the buttplate. An inch is a lot though. You might be able to get 1/2" without too much trouble. I just double checked the pull the other day and it's 13 5/8" Jim

We're ramping up production and things are getting easier. I'd expect a lead time of around 8-10 weeks.

We intend to put a stain kit together, but just haven't had the time yet. I would suggest a light wash coat of yellow aniline dye. After this you could add some red dye to the finish as it's built up. Also, it would be a good idea to fill the grain with a dark wood grain filler. Thanks, Jim

Kibler fowler, a couple of photos,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So currently, our SMR and Colonial in standard wood goes for $1185. If someone prices individual components for building such a gun from a blank it's probably around a grand or so and nothing is really very complete. We also offer sales now and then which helps. In addition we offer "second"...

Were guns browned in the time period?

I don’t recall the exact date or source, but there is a newspaper add from the late 1780’s or early 1790’s that advertises browning barrels. Think it was a Virginia newspaper. I believe this is something Wallace uncovered.

Kibler fowler, a couple of photos,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes, one thing I believe most fail to recognize is that in terms historical correctness, aesthetics, fit, finish etc, our kits are probably better than 90% or more guns built from a blank. Those that build guns in this category don’t always want to admit this to themselves. These conclusions...

If you would like, we would be happy to check out your lock. I don’t ever recall a Colonial frizzen rebounding in the past, but maybe you got a weak frizzen spring. Just send it in and we’ll do what is needed at no charge.

Another note... We intentionally make our springs strong. This is a good thing. It makes the locks fast. I would highly discourage any spring modification. Strong springs can increase the chance of flint breakage, but there are better solutions than making them weaker.

    Kiblers Woodsrunner

One of the keys I've found is to use properly sized flints. If we use thinner or smaller flints in the big Colonial they can tend to break given the lock's power. I'm sue we've sent some locks with these flints given how hard flints are to come by for us. As for the Ketland lock, I've not had...

Why the flare on swamped barrels?

I strongly disagree. If you have enough skill to forge a barrel, you can certainly control the final shape. Look at Jaeger barrels with their HEAVY swamp. No way this was unintended. Nope.
