Brass Frame Remingtons In The Old West?

What year is Pale Rider set in? Plot. The film opens in the countryside outside the fictional town of Lahood, California, and takes place sometime in the 1870s or early 1880s(based on remarks in the film about outlawing hydraulic mining)...

Brass Frame Remingtons In The Old West?

What leads you to believe it portrays 1848? They were talking of banning hydraulic mining, which did happen in the 1880’s. And hydraulic gold mining really didn’t start until the 1850’s. I’m thinking it portrays the late 1870’s or early 1880’s, which his Remington conversion would be correct.

Paper cartridges in a rifled gun?

I suppose the English, and the US during the civil war, did it wrong for a lot of years. Enfields were indeed loaded with lubed, paper patched, smooth side bullets. I also understand that long range BP shooters load cartridges with paper patched bullets.

    Manhattan pistol age?

Of course I’d shoot it. It’s not any less strong now than it was 150 years ago. Small parts break, but can be replaced or remade by any competent gunsmith.

    Lock tumbler

Threads per inch and thread pitch is not the same thing. Thread pitch is how far apart each thread is. Threads per inch is self explanatory. “TPI is a numerical representation of the number of threads in every inch of length along a screw. The thread pitch is a measurement of the distance...

can't pay with a check, so goodbye to this board.

It is so much easier to steal your identity and money with a paper check than with your credit card number. Your check has your name, address, sometimes your driver’s license #, routing #, account #, bank name, etc. Credit cards carry theft protection. I can honestly say that I haven’t...

    "Restoring" a basket case original.

Making it safe and shootable is one thing. But calling it a “restoration”, is something else. Restoration; the action of returning something to a former condition. Turning a rusted 32 Ford into a hot rod is not a “restoration”.
