    The .62 rifle took a 2022 deer

Congrats! You are going to really enjoy this caliber. My own 62 has very shallow and slow twist, designed for round ball only. But I imagine it’s easy to have a faster rifling cut to handle conicals etc. However, the 335-grain round ball is a heavy enough shove backwards for me, thank you very...

Thank you. Have these Rice locks required a lot of work?

If I wasn’t in the process of having one of these made, I’d buy yours.

    Rice "Nock" lock question

In your experience, Wayne, how does the Rice lock compare to the Davis lock of the same design? I really appreciate you weighing in here. I prefer the fit, finish, and function of the Kibler, but I want the look of the Manton waterproof pan.

Call to action: Flintlock-only Deer Season KY - Commission meeting today

You are correct, about PA, where we seem to have a world record size group of whiny outdoorsmen who are never satisfied with anything, who complain about and second guess everything the PA Game Commission does, says, studies, and tries. It’s not everyone or even half our people who behave this...

    L& R Manton Lock

Someone here recently sent me pictures of this exact Manton lock being reproduced by hand in Australia. I gotta say it looks unbelievably cool. I don’t think Manton made anything that was not perfect. Thank you very much for posting these photos, Green

    L& R Manton Lock

Thx. Sometimes we all just need to take a break from the keyboard. I’m excited about building the flintlock British Sporting Rifle and collecting information on the lock is probably the most important step. The big Davis Germanic lock looked ok to my eyes, but it’s so big that the rifle will...

Which maker? L&R or Davis? What kind of work went into getting the lock up to speed?

Please don't allow the heckler's veto to ruin a discussion that is benefiting me and other muzzleloading fans. That is not fair. Please keep this discussion open and the problematic people away from it.

    Locks

Got my first percussion gun since I was ten years old two years ago, for early season PA bear and deer hunting, and for any elk hunting I might do. It is a copy of a gun in a museum, and I would suggest that if you do not feel constrained by history, make your percussion rifle a British Sporting...
