    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

I had my cataracts done 12-15 years ago. I can’t remember.exactly. Insurance paid for the basic lenses. I paid for special lenses that do focus somewhat. The extra also included surgery to correct astigmatism. It was a couple of thousand out of pocket for each eye. I’ve been very happy with...

    Bought a Smoker

I like Apple for chicken and milder meats as the flavor isn’t overpowering.

    A Taste of History

I watch it on public television for a number of years. He made some great looking dishes although most wouldn’t be described as heart healthy with the amount of cream, butter and fat used. My mouth is watering like Pavlov’s dog just thinking about it.

    second SMR hog

It would be fun to hunt pigs in Kansas but the State spent a bunch eliminating them and I fully understand why. They carry diseases detrimental to commercial hogs along with the huge amount of damage to crops, habitat and other wildlife.

    WANTED Double-handled stoneware “canteen”

I suggest you find someone in your area who does ceramics on a wheel. Not the mold kind where they make Santa Clauses etc.

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

I’m not an eye doctor but before I had my cataract surgery done my eyes could only be corrected so much. I like you was kind of stuck with it for a year or two before my eye doc could get the surgery approved by insurance.

    Starting fires with patches

I use a greased cloth patch. When it is super dry and windy in Kansas I either avoid shooting or am very careful about where I shoot. I don’t want to be the cause of a wildfire.

    Shooting sticks

Shooting sticks brings back memories of using them with 22s as a kid to pop prairie dogs at much farther distances than normally possible off hand or prone. Great fun.

    Eye injuries from flintlock?

I’ve volunteered as an RSO at a public range run by an association. The range requires glasses and hearing protection. Two reasons, to protect the shooters, and for liability reasons. It’s that simple. If you can’t abide by the rules you will be asked to leave. In this day and age an injury or...

    rust in bore ???

I would not be overly worried if what you see is browning inside the barrel. The rust is very thin and is unlikely to effect accuracy or lead to more rust. The purpose of browning is to do a controlled rust.

    Rabbits in the snow

My kids have raise them as pets and for 4-H. They are pretty easy to care for except they don’t do well in extreme heat. There are many different breeds. My daughter currently has what’s called a Flemish giant. She just lets it run with the chickens. It eats what they eat including table scraps.

    Cap Availability and Prices

Found caps today ( Independence Day) in a Walmart for the $5.62 price. I grabbed 5 tins and will get some more in a few days if still there. The tins I got are for my daughter.

FOR SALE Buffalo Hunters book lot 8

Mari Sandoz was a Nebraska native. I read The Buffalo hunters many years ago. The jacket on mine is in rough condition but it is a signed copy. Yours is priced very reasonably.

    KY Pistol Ramrod Question

I don’t like the holes either. It weakens it and could make for broken rod. I’d make a new one too. Maybe keep this one for display only.

FOR SALE Thrifty .45 percussion (SOLD!)

It looks like the early Jukar rifles sold by CVA and others. My first rifle was a flintlock kit of one like it. My first muzzleloader and first build. Your price is very reasonable. The percussion one are okay. The lock on my flint one was crap.
