What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

    Wouldn't the wedges correct that?

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

I think someone mentioned that earlier, too. I wish I had paid more attention to the fit of the barrel in the stock and saved a picture of that. Anyway, it's someone else's problem to deal with.

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

Thanks. I've seen it spelled both ways and was too lazy to look up the correct spelling. Bale and bail always get me, too. As in the bale on a bucket.

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

Well it's good info to have either way ;)

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

oops. Just realized; this would be a hook breach, right? Don't GPR's have hook breaches?

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

Where would one shave steel on something like this? The end of the threads or the joint where they meet?

What are your thoughts on this barrel/breach fitment?

I ran into this on GB a while back. Just window shopping. It was a Lyman GPR fully built rifle. I held off posting until the item sold. What would you do? Leave it as is? Try to tighten them up? It's the first I've seen this on any of the rifles I've looked at. If I was the seller I probably...

    1851 engraved

I'll agree with that. And if it was on anything other than a $600 Uberti or Pietta that also uses acid etched color case hardening... well, there's a reason they call them repros :thumb:

    1851 engraved

I opted for the Remington 1858 because Angel Eyes used one. It seems to be a quality piece and shoots well. My buddy is also interested in an engraved model, but I can't remember which. Lightning maybe. I say go for it.

    Loading press

I just bought one for I think 26 bucks. It seems like it would work OK. When I get my other 1858 in I'll load a bunch of cylinders up with it and see if I like it. Without having used it yet, it seems like it would be less fiddly than loading up extra cylinders using the gun.

What makes a good patch knife?

:thumb: Someone gave me a knife that I modified and strapped to a bag. It's as sharp as my Opie. But I've been known to use a British MOD survival knife because it's all I had handy :)

How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

I haven't read all the replies... so this might have been said. But do y'all remember the History Channel's Hatfield and McCoys? Remember when Kevin Costner (Devil Anse Hatfield) gathered up everyone's revolvers in a sack and went out for a little night time warfare? He and Josey Wales had it...

Ease and accuracy of shooting. 1851 Navy vs 1858 Remington. Thoughts?

Ah... 50 yards. Somewhere between waking up and my first post I thought you were talking feet. Yeah, there's a difference then. BTW, just saw a youtuber shooting an Outlaw at 7yds. Rested. lol But it told him where his gun was hitting anyway.

Ease and accuracy of shooting. 1851 Navy vs 1858 Remington. Thoughts?

@stephenprops1 , My reply was in response to the post where the poster said if my target was 20ft he took back his comment. So 8yds is close to 20ft in that respect. But for you 50' shooters who don't understand shooting a target closer, do the math. What is the difference between hitting a...

Ease and accuracy of shooting. 1851 Navy vs 1858 Remington. Thoughts?

I just watched the end of that movie again today and I gotta say, Clint did a LOT of shooting in that restaurant at the end. As did Blackburn's deputies in an earlier scene. I'm thinking the reloads were edited out ;)

I've got my fourth and fifth on its way :) The fifth will be a catch and release though.
