    cutting and crowning a barrel

    If you don't have access to a lathe it can be done by hand with a hacksaw, squaring tool, hand cutter with a pilot, and a hand crowning tool with a pilot.

    It is not uncommon for different types of steel to be a little reddish. I put a Hawken-style rear sight on my GPR and could never get it to be anything other than a reddish brown.
