    Pistol bullets in a muzzleloader?

Using the formula in the link I need a 1-39" twist, my rifle is 1-48". I'll probably still try it just for fun. Note: Regarding the link, you'd think that someone in the NRA would know that the 223 Remington they used as an example uses a .224" bullet not a .244".

    Builds......where to start?

I put together a .40 earlier this year and have over $800 in parts. A (lh) Siler large percussion was $175 and a (lh) large Siler flintlock was $225. If I recall correctly, I paid $200 for my Rice .40 caliber barrel. Just in case anyone is checking online prices, Pecatonica's prices are not...

    Pistol bullets in a muzzleloader?

Flat point forward. I have a Colt bullseye pistol I shoot HBWC's in and have considered loading them backwards for my CC airweight, not sure about penetration through clothing though.

    Pistol bullets in a muzzleloader?

Not really looking to "gain" anything, just thinking "what if"? We'd all still dragging stuff around on sticks if someone hadn't had a little light come on in his head.

    Builds......where to start?

To the OP, my suggestion if you want to cut and use your own wood is to find a local cabinet shop and see if they have a kiln. If they don't, they may be able to point you to one. I'd cut enough blanks to do several.

    Favored Materials for Field Ramrods

Has anyone tried a cherry rod? Years ago my brother and I were doing some work on a house, we were replacing the countertop. The owners wanted ceramic tile, instead of a bull nose on edge we used a strip of cherry. The cherry was very hard, as hard as any hickory I worked with.

    Pistol bullets in a muzzleloader?

I asked this in the "everything .40 caliber" thread but didn't get any responses, so I'll ask again. Has anyone ever shot hollow base pistol bullets in a .40 caliber rifle? I have a bunch of Berrys hollow base, .40 caliber (.401") copper washed lead bullets that I load for my (modern) pistols.

My priming horn disappeared in shipment

I just had 5 pounds of black powder delivered, they charged me for “adult signature” delivery. The package was delivered and nothing signed by anyone in my household.

    Big flintlock elk

Great elk! Interesting choice of powder, definitely goes against the grain. "The rifle sports a 42-inch .54 caliber barrel, iron sights, and a hand tuned Siler flintlock. It shoots just under two inch groups at 100 yards when stoked with 120 grains of FFFg Goex black powder, a linen patch, and...

    Accuracy

Man, I struggle with front sight. I shoot aperture sight rimfire at 50 yards, air rifle and pistol at 10 meters and my muzzle loader at 25 yards. It may be easy for some, but not me.
