    If it is a hollow point the screw-type ball extractor MIGHT be able to get down into the hollow and get a good grip on the bullet.

    There used to be a type of "adapter" that could be screwed onto a CO2 discharge that would fit into the vent hole to deball a flintlock.

    Bottom line is this. If you think the leather is going to screw up the wood, metal etc, just slide the leather off when you are finished shooting. It's not going to be permanently attached anyway.

    Musketeer that's a good point. I primarily use veg tan so I forgot about the salt issue in chrome tan.
