    Hello from Missouri

Welcome from Upstate NY. I spend a few weeks a year near your capital, Jefferson City. Woody

Prices on used guns are insanely high.

The last gun I bought at a gun show was a Hoppe's single shot, looks unfired and was at a very reasonable price. It was the only black powder gun on the seller's table so I expect that it was something that he did not want. The gov't has sent money to everyone over the past year so people...

    Caps available from Grafs...

I agree. If I were home it would be 1000+ miles for me to drive there. Fortunately I am visiting my son and grandchildren who live 40 miles from there!!

    Caps available from Grafs...

I was at the store last week so no hazmat fee or shipping They have lots of powder on hand so add some to the cart and the fees seem a lot less

What type of rifle would have been in use...Colonial upstate NY?

If you are talking about the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown when you say "Cooperstown has a fine pioneer museum" there are no firearms there that I have ever seen and I visit at least once a year. The village was filled with museums until the mid 1970's when they started closing and their...

Shipping a muzzleloder from Canada to USA ?

I don't think they can sell a completed firearm to the US. Loyalist Arms sends your rifle / musket in two packages with the lock sent separately so they are not sending a completed working firearm, just components.

    Help needed with Colt Walker

Have you tried the smaller balls? It is my belief that only the tiniest ring of lead should be made when ramming home the ball. I would have to think that the excessive bearing surface and amount of lead you are forcing through the cone is causing excessive pressure. Don't give up.

Have you put a flint in it and tried it out? You state that it could be fired right now.

    Muzzleloading's Impact on Health

I am not medical expert but I will weigh in As for hearing issues, there are several factors that cause the issues. One is simply the decibels and the other is the frequency that you are exposed. The decibels could be the same as a modern firearm but the frequency is definitely not. When...

    Palmetto Revolver

I am no expert, but the lack of markings may indicate that it started as a kit gun or it could have been defarbed previously. PN would indicate that the cylinder at least was made in Italy. Woody

    Help identify my .44 Revolver

Definitely look on the bottom of the barrel under the loading lever. I have had a Pietta that was made in 1974 since about 1980 and never knew who made it until just recently. Mine has a very slight stamping close to the frame of *** that is stylized / semi script that I never noticed until I...

    Historical Tarp Colors

Search YouTube for Townsends oilcloth. He does a video on this where he uses BLO and mineral spirits and iron oxide as a filler. Caution, it is flamible Woody

Is this 1858 an original "real deal?"

He conveniently does not include a shot of the left side of the frame which is where the Italian proof marks are on my Pietta Remington from 1974

SOLD 58 remmy brasser nib + accessories

Folks, this gun lists for $359 and sells at Midway and other sites for $330 plus shipping if it were in stock. I would grab this except that I already bought one pistol this month and that is my limit. This is a nice outfit to get started or add another gun to your collection. Woody

    Would you

Do you now or in the future plan to hunt with it or just target shoot? If only target shooting I would get some / make some shooting sticks and leave it long. Woody

    Greetings from Western NY

Welcome from the edge of the Catskills here in NY. My parents both grew up in Buffalo and I still have a couple of cousins there. One of my cousins is very big into shooting there, was president of a big trap / skeet club and does Cowboy shooting too.
