    Buckskin question

Confused? When you get right down to it...hc/pc don't mix. Historically correct includes drinking on the firing line. Politically correct says no drinking. HC doesn't want to allow white women PC says you have no choice but to allow women HC says serve dinner from the right PC says feed me...

    Rifle stock blanks

I've bought several blanks on eBay. Usually they're something bought 20/50 years ago and "undone." I still see them on there and the prices aren't bad. Some are estate items. Most of what I got are spectacular grained cause the wood is from OLD trees.

The Best Pourable Metal For Cannon?

Ya know...there just might be. The local TV station was shooting the whole thing and a ton of tourists were there too. I didn't ... I'm more HC than to bring a camera. I watched him shoot...was amazing...he won...of course. Later the Wyoming clubs got together and banned the gun because of the...

The Cody Wy club used to have a barrel of whiskey right behind the firing line...after all...it's historically correct...and it was real moonshine whiskey done in a folded copper still.

Build it the way you liked, it's your gun.

Dang....didn't mean to stir the pot...well :stir: heck...maybe I did. The thing is...IF you look hard enough you can find an historical that looks just like what you built. It might not have been built in the US, but someone built one 150 years ago and I know there's been some found here...

    Horn to base plug fit.

Why...thanks Rick, If I ever do another horn I'll try it your way. I made the horn I use in 1978 and it's only a little flakey...hasn't damaged the scrim yet. At the time there wasn't a lot of info on howto at the local library..so I did until it worked. Same with the gun I built from a...

    Horn to base plug fit.

Oh Gawd Don...you ain't kidding...ewww!! I don't boil...I just get 'em hot with hot water. I make sure I already have my plug turned. I built a bow foot lathe. I dip the end of the horn in the water and press the plug in...redip and press again...if you get it too hot the horn starts to peel...

The Best Pourable Metal For Cannon?

At one of the Sheridan Wyoming shoots a guy brought a cannon he'd made from a 75mm tank cannon barrel hunk he picked up at the scrap yard. Worked great and much safer than trying to pour your own.

    Reading machinist's drawings?

That Napoleon guy...you know...at war with England 1801 to 1815...or close enough....anyway he was on the march to the Channel to look at England and noticed a roadsign that said "Calais 45 miles" or something close to that and he lost his temper and spouted, "MILES??? MILES!!! that's an...

    1 more GPR build

There's a big reason why there's kits and finished rifles. The kit was too screwed up to make a finished rifle without a ton of work. I've had both in the GPR...kit and factory... A long time ago I bought a Tryon back action rifle. Pedrosoli I think...I got it cheap because it set in the gun...

Build it the way you liked, it's your gun.

on the HC/PC question...what kind of guns got preserved? The man with money bought the fancy gun...the farmer bought what he could afford. The fancy went in the attic of the mansion when the rich man went to the newest style..got found and made the books...the affordable got stuck in the barn...

    Buckskin question

Cotton canvas is only authentic for the 20th century...a canvas tipi, walltent, marque or bakers tent should be made of hemp canvas to be authentic. We had a guy in the primative camp who wore the uppers from mocs over the top of tennis shoes and nobody noticed...'cept me and I'll never tell...
