    My Renegade came already loaded

I’d personally flush all the old powder out, degrease and dry everything in front of the ball and behind it with brake cleaner and dribble some black power in there, 3 or 4f and just shoot it out. Doesn’t take five grains of BP to blow out a ball. I’ve never had a dry ball that I couldn’t shoot...

    Thompson center cougar info

It’s a fancier Thompson center Hawken normally with a fancy medallion in a fancy stock. Same gun just more fancy lol.

    Information on this Shotgun

Start a new thread in this sub forum and post some of good pics of it. Most likely if it’s Belgian it’ll fall into the one of many thousands imported Belgian shotguns as described above.

    First Ruger Old Army questions...

That gun has adjustable sights. For targets I shoot 20 grains of 3F under 20 grains of cream of wheat. I have shot it without the COW but the accuracy is better with it in place.

    Barry Lyndon movie fakery.

I could win WAY more flintlock matches if I could get by with gluing a flint onto my Trapdoor.

    Point of impact shift.

I had to go back and read the original post again. I didn’t see that he wrote 100 yard offhanded. Heck I’m happy to get all my shots in the black of a target at 100 yards using a bench rest and sandbags. OP it is my firm belief that muzzleloader groups should be determined at 50 yards off of a...

    Point of impact shift.

When shooting for accuracy/targets/matches I always load my first round and shoot it into the backstop to foul my gun. From then on I load with a wet patch. A clean bore on my gun is totally different than a slightly fouled bore. Wet patch loading keeps my barrel consistent from shot to shot...

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

Welcome to the world of owning any kind of firearm. Guns, ammo, primers, powder and projectiles are all affected by political drama and sometimes world events. Not just Blackpowder and caps. All firearms products. It has been like this for eons. Prepare to horde when the getting is good. If you...

    Kentucky teardown project progress

Vinegar will take the blueing right off. I use citri strip on wood stocks. Dip the barrel in a wallpaper pan of vinegar or just keep wiping and rubbing. It’ll come off. When finished be sure to clean all of the vinegar off inside and out and oil it up. It will cause it to rust.

    Yep that’s it! Thanks!

    Stuff in a box.

This was in a box from an estate sale. Appears to be parts to a pistol kit. It’s a smooth bore. Any ideas what pistol it is? No stock was included

    Removing Lead Oxide From Roundballs

Spray them with some WD-40 or something similar. That nasty stuff will wipe right off and the remaining oil will keep them from oxidizing again for a long time.

    Influence with Pietta among us?

I have a fairly new Pietta Dance brothers 44, and a year old 36 Colt navy. No issues using 11s.

    Influence with Pietta among us?

As I stated before I’ve never had any #10 caps so I can’t compare. I don’t pinch them or push them on with a dowel. I push them on with fingers and shoot. No jams and none falling off. Same on my Ruger OA. Sometimes people make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to forum discussions...

    Influence with Pietta among us?

I have a slew of Pietta revolvers. I’ve never owned a tin of #10 caps. 11s have always worked fine with mine. I have two that are less than two years old and number 11 CCIs, Remington and rws 1075s all work the same on mine.

    Wax,,,oil,,,???

I’ve used this for years. I’ve used it as patch lube a few times with good results and it’s surprisingly good at rust prevention.
