    Lead ID

Don’t toss it because it’s not pure lead. Will work good mixed with pure lead if you or a friend casts bullets for cartridge guns.

    SOLD Tom Ball accurized Remington

The purpose of the piece of paper with your name is to hopefully keep people from posting items that are simply pics stolen from the internet. Place the paper WITH the gun if you have hopes of actually selling it. You’re new. Read the rules again for selling. As your ad looks now it screams scam...

    Help with I'd / stock

Looks like the guy that had that before you got really mad at it and whacked it against a post a few times. You’ll not find a replacement stock for it. One will have to be hand made. Unless you can do that yourself I’d relegate the parts to the parts bin and call it a day. That thing is rough.

WANTED 1822 or older U.S. muskets wanted

You are new to the forum. Be very careful who you purchase from. If the seller is not a long term member be very aware there are scammers that jump all over wanted ads.

    Convert rifles barrel to smoothbore

Why would you want to smooth bore that barrel? That takes it from something useful to useless. A smoothbore pistol is a novelty. Can’t hit diddly s&@t with one.

Bullet stuck in barrel - with a twist

Well we’ve all done dumb things in life. Lesson learned. When you get your gun finished remember this incident every single time you go to load it. You may never have a dry ball again lol. You made a dumb dumb but at least it wasn’t something that could get you hurt. Move on and learn from it...

Triple Seven seems to have solved my misfiring problem, but now what should I do with my Pyrodex?

Unless your pyrodex was very old, or damp it should ignite just as easily as triple 7. Using a musket cap should ignite it just fine. Id almost bet that there is/was and obstruction in your drum or breach. Most likely fouling or oil. Pull the nipple, clean very well, then blast that area with...

Treso ampco vs platinum lined nipple

Lord have mercy. I’ve shot cheap steel nipples for 40 years and I don’t think I’ve ever worn one out. I’ve beat them to death with hammer strikes way before the hole eroded.

Help me make a choice on twist rate

Yes. No. Maybe. Probably. All barrels have a preferred load. Even barrels by the same maker with the same twist. What shoots well in one may not shoot well in another. Same with cartridge guns. I have three 54s. All shoot very well with 80grains of 2F. In hunting or target applications I’ve...

Help me make a choice on twist rate

If you had two rifles with one of each of those twists I’m pretty confident you wouldn’t be able to tell any difference between the two. One turn in 56 or 66 inches is a minuscule difference in a 28 inch barrel.

    Real black powder

90% of my shooting is with real BP. I will use some T7 in my revolvers sometimes. I really like T7 in BP cartridges so I keep some on hand. T7 is also almost double the price of real black power if you buy BP online in bulk. Locally T7 is around $42 a pound here. I can order BP and with Hazmat...
