SOLD (Price Reduced) Pecatonica .50 Kentucky Flintlock Pistol Kit with Extras $650

I've got an untouched Pecatonica Kentucky pistol kit here. The barrel is .50 cal and rifled, the stock is walnut, and the standard brass furniture is included. I just have too many projects going at the moment and could use the money instead. The barrel has the breech plug installed, underlug...

    New UPS Regs

Just did a little digging into this out of curiosity, and it appears to me that none of this new UPS policy will apply to muzzleloaders. (don't quote me on this, I am not here to give legal advice) This is due to UPS using 18 USC Ch. 44: FIREARMS to define a "Firearm". 18 USC Ch. 44: FIREARMS...

    New UPS Regs

I just sold a flintlock pistol to another member on this forum earlier this month, shipped it via USPS (Illinois to Montana), and he received it without issue.

Ah okay cool. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the kit total? They don't have the prices listed still.

Great looking pistol! Did you get this kit from MBS recently? On their site it appears they are not currently available.

    Guns of Outlander Season 6

It's a stunning country. I lived there for three years and can't wait to go back. Thankfully one of my mates from there is getting married next summer, so that gives me a good excuse to go! 😆

    Guns of Outlander Season 6

Usually I'm pretty good about being able to ignore historical errors as long as it's entertaining and not presented as 100% fact. The main issue is finding the time! 😂

    Guns of Outlander Season 6

You would think it would have been a show I would have watched by now, having visited Culloden multiple times, and my masters thesis being written about that battle, yet here we are... 😂

    Guns of Outlander Season 6

I'm not sure who I angered in the social media department to deserve this thumbnail... but it was fun doing the video! 😂 Very cool to hear about the Kiblers! Can't wait to see them. I have some catching up to do...

    Aqua Fortis / Bone Black

I finished this Kibler with AF and blushed, followed by tannic acid. With the tannic acid you can rub back as little or as much as you want. Rubbing it back less will leave a darker/grimier looking finish. I tried using bone black also and preferred the tannic acid as it seemed to give me more...

Hey, time to show your first build!!

Aquafortis/tanic acid rubbed back with scotchbrite and then finished with standard Tried & True. I believe I did 3 or 4 coats of Tried & True per the instructions on their website. Every once in a while I will wipe it down with a very light coat of a Pledge, Liquid Gold, etc, I'm not too picky...

Hey, time to show your first build!!

This is my first. Kibler Colonial .50, standard grade maple, finished with AF and tanic acid, I have hunted two seasons with it so far but no luck yet.

    AquaFortis ?????

I don't remember 100%, but I believe I just used a blue kitchen-type scotch brite/scrubbing pad and some Murphy's oil soap to scrub back the tannic acid on my build. I'm not really sure why yours would have turned black with only AquaFortis, did it turn black after heating it? My first guess...

    Determine coat of arms

My guess is, it is a coronet of a count, having nine visible pearls. More specifically the child of a count because of the way the coronet is "capped". Unfortunately coronets of similar styles were used in multiple countries to represent counts so that doesn't help too much. The symbol at the...

    Sight Orientation.

That's not necessarily true. Most original rifles I have seen have a symmetrical low "half moon" front sight blade that would look the same orientated either direction.
