Mince meat, fruit cake and figgy pudding

The proper Yorkshire way to eat fruit cake is with cheese. Wensleydale is considered by many to be the ideal choice.

Looking for info and specific ID on revolver

I would describe it as a self-cocking revolver, of a type popular in England in the mid 19th century. Charles Osborne was a Birmingham gunmaker. If you Google "Charles Osborne" , gunsmith you should find the information you need. Most of the hits I found were for shotguns but there were some...

Modifying a commercial Murdoch Scottish steel pistol

I thought it might be of interest to compare the mixed metal pistols with an all-steel one from 1759.

    LeMat Revolver

Yes, it is. It is in the 1400s. It has been in my family since the 30s so for more than half its "life".

    LeMat Revolver

Even if I were not in the UK, I doubt I would be tempted to shoot mine.

    Belt Hooks On Pistols

Scots all steel pistols had them.

What say you, original or not?

I am not an expert on the matter and I certainly would not pass judgement but there are a couple of points in the item' s favour. First, the band obviously is wrong, but the stock has been cut back so the barrel cannot be secured by a pin (the redundant fixing on the barrel is visible. I don't...

    Haggis Day

People seem worried about the casing of a haggis but are ignoring the use of intestine in their sausages.

Well, I for one will be having haggis, neeps and tatties tonight.

    Revolver photos

Yes they are all originals. Being in the UK they are not fired. The better preserved London Navy was still loaded when my father acquired it, He took it down to the station range and unloaded it the quick way. Even after 70 odd years (it was in the 30s) every shot fired.

All my Colts together. The Navies are 2nd Model, 3rd Model and two Londons. The Police model has a NY address, steel trigger guard and London proofs.

    Unknown flintlock pistol

Just for comparison, an An XIII. I do feel that the hammer in the original post is on the large side. Incidentally, the rammer fits through the hole in the **** for tightening.

I have repeated the picture I posted earlier for easier comparison of the rammers. This is a second model.

I am in the UK so it is too complicated but I do not think I would want to risk causing damage to the old girl. However, in the 30s when my father acquired a London Navy, it was fully loaded and he decided to take it down to the station's range and unload it the quick way, every shot fired...
