Top is a 1968 Navy Arms .36 Griswold & Gunnison made by Uberti. Middle is a 2006 Pietta .36 Navy w/ full octagon barrel. Bottom is a 1975 High Standard .36 Griswold & Gunnison

My new pietta 1858 came this evening. OMG does it feel light and nimble compared to the Bison... I had not shot or held a standard size 1858 in 42 years... Fit, finish and time seem excelent. trigger is not as good as the Bison. its decent but not great. my spare Cylinders seem to all work just fine. It was full dark and raining by the time I got her out of the box, cleaned and loaded so i donned the headlamp and shot a cylinder at 15yrds. six oclock hold and my poor patern is low. that makes sense as I held low so that I could see the black dot. also this rig came with the taller dovetailed front sight. It was hard to see through the smoke and rain... hope to get some daylight shooting tomorrow after work. View attachment 169132

even though thats poor shooting for me at 15yrds I still would not want to be standing downrange... the two best shots were the first two. then the smoke and everything got to me...

I'm a "pie-plater" myself!

No, but I really like that revolver and I’m afraid the only way to have one will be to make one.

It is a Centaur. I like the full fluted cylinder. Don't see very many full fluted pistols.

All my Colts together. The Navies are 2nd Model, 3rd Model and two Londons. The Police model has a NY address, steel trigger guard and London proofs.

No. I have one but it’ll remain as it was sold. No, for this project... I’d use an Uberti. Centaure was too hit and miss for me. I’ve had good ones and not so good ones. Uberti have been pretty consistent for me.

what were some of the drawbacks in those Centaurs, in your experience?

I’ve experienced really fast wear on the action parts, they were very soft. Poorly timed and indexed. Fit and finish sub par. Stuff like that. out of the dozen or so I’ve owned I was happy with 3 of them. The good ones are really beautiful. Close copies of the originals.

My main thing is unmentionable cartridge revolvers but I’ve recently been getting more and more into percussion revolvers. I Stupidly sold a 2nd Gen Colt 1860 Army that I had and never fired a couple years back.

So far I’ve replaced it with an 1858 Remington New Model Army and an 1851 Colt Navy (both Uberti replicas). I want an all steel 1851 London model and an 1862 Pocket Police 5-1/2” to round out the collection.

I’ve got everything from Flintlocks to modern AR’s but single action revolvers are my favorite firearms I’d say.

I have 6 right now, I guess I need to go through them and decide which to retain and which to divest
