    A neat percussion conversion.

There is a rectangular slot (visible when the bayonet is locked back). When the bayonet is released, it springs open and this slot engages with the protrusion you can see to the right of the hinge. You press the button at the top of the catch to unlock the bayonet which can be returned to the...

    A neat percussion conversion.

I thought people might be interested to see a rather neat flintlock to percussion conversion. The pistol is a Henry Nock (1741 - 1804) boxlock. The **** has been converted leaving a barely discernible join.

    Lets see some flintlock pistols!

This is my French AnXII pistol. It was made in the Charleville armoury.

Anyone make a small concealable percussion pistol

This is my turn-off boxlock pistol by Turner of Reading.

Shooting a ramrod out of the barrel..?

I remember reading in the memoirs of a soldier from Napoleonic times that when first in action a body of new troops would send a number of ramrods towards the French.

    Brass Shine

None of my brass has been polished for at least 60 years. There is very little patina to be seen, is that because the firearms are never taken outside. They just get the occasional wipe over with a soft cloth.

Have you defarbed your percussion revolver?

In earlier days shooting a fox was considered very bad form as it denied the local hunt of their sport.

Have you defarbed your percussion revolver?

Speaking as an interested observer (I don't own any defarbed guns) I am always puzzled why so much finish is often removed. My LeMat looks newer than a lot of the defarbed reproductions I have seen.

    Ketland blunderbuss loads

I have always regarded them as sawn-off shotguns.

    Lets see some flintlock pistols!

Not as fancy as some, but I always feel this pair meant business.

How about a little tap action pistol!

    Flintlock made in India

Yes, it is an old one. The bore is 1.12" at the mouth and approximately 0.64" near the touch hole. I have fired it once, about 50 years ago - just wadding. The noise was very interesting. It was not a sharp bang but a deep loud "whoomph". I remember the birds went quiet for several minutes

    Flintlock made in India

Rather off subject I know, but this is my Grice blunderbuss.

Unknown Flintlock Pistol - Help needed!

I think the barrel really shows it was not meant for use, but stylistically it is not out of line with with plenty of Ottoman flintlocks which can range from exquisite to (frankly) rough.

    Danger of rapid firing?

My father was called in by the police as an expert when a young girl complained of a stomach pain while at a funfair. When she was taken home and undressed, a .303 (sorry!) bullet dropped out from under her skin. My father identified it a having been fired from a rifle rather than an aircraft...

1815 pistol, thought some might like to see this

This one needs more than cleaning! It was made by Long of Basingstoke.

1815 pistol, thought some might like to see this

I thought don't be lazy, get out the camera and take a picture or two. The first one shows the pan with the lever rotated. The other shows the lever rotated and the trigger ready for firing.

1815 pistol, thought some might like to see this

This might help. With the tap in this position there is only one hole open. When it is turned, a second one is exposed in the cylinder at the bottom of the pan.

1815 pistol, thought some might like to see this

    Not named, rather severe version.
