Very nice rifle Bad Carma. I'm shooting a .440 sized 45-70 bullet, 405g with 80g of goex. The bullet has a hollow in the bottom so its a minie and I fill it with crisco. What group sizes do you get at 200yd with heavy 45cal bullets

ResearchPress, I shoot off the bench for max accuracy these days. I can't go prone anymore (like a lot of things you can't do when you get old, darn now I need a beer). but I was only 3% away from master in high power rifle, 600 yards is a long way with open sights on a M1 Garand.

What accuracy do you get at 300yards with 45??

Hello, I have a custom 45 percussion rifle with 1 in 27" twist. I'm shooting a 400g bullet and getting 5 shot groups at 300 yards of 6", i.e. 2 MOA. I'm rather unhappy with this. What type of accuracy to you guys get at that range and what 45cal rifle do you have. I use open peep sights so I...

Please talk me out of a 1861 Navy

The only ones I'd recommend were made in the 60-70 (I only know about uberti). 1861's made after then used the 44 barrel for the 1860 and bored a 36cal out of it. So what you get is a pistol that is very muzzle heavy and doesn't handle like a 1851 !!! Good luck

How do I prevent carbon ring under nipple?

Actually, seriously, I was referring to blowing down (not up, lol) the barrel after each shot in hope that the carbon ring would not form. Does anyone think this will work?

How do I prevent carbon ring under nipple?

UndeadPoet, now I had a serious question wanting a serious answer, but YOU had to come along and tickle my sarcastic(but fun loving) funny bone, sooooo, maybe I should, blowup the barrel and hope for the best!, what do you think??
