    Old Girl revisited

I'm with everyone else's comments. Good Grief, all that open work inletting, not to mention cutting out and engraving the pieces themselves. Yikes ! That's some very fine work.

I'm curious too as to your machine. It seems most don't go that long. Who's the manf. and is it an 'oldie' or fairly new? It has to be nice having your own duplicator !

Looking to Hire - A Unique Opportunity

I'm sure if Jim saw the thread in the Non Muzzleloading Topics forum re: the poll on avg. ages of members, he would have noted whether his shop is wheelchair accessible. Joking aside, what a great opportunity for someone.

    Waiting and waiting anyone else?

Pecatonica cuts stocks for Track, Dixie, and If I recall correctly Cabin Creek (?), in addition to their own kits. Now, this past year 2021 their sole stock carver had a serious motorcycle accident they laid him up for something like 3 mos. he then was back to work using a crutch, then a...

Ty, did you find your turkey gun yet?

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

'Just a thought Ryan, re; dog vs. gun. Your pup's either into or quickly approaching the learning curve that will define him/her and you together. Miss it, and you may never get the chance again. Fuss with the gun while your pup's resting between training outings and I'd be willing to bet...

    Walnut Dust

Right you are. 'Didn't know that. And yes B/Walnut is a messy tree in a yard, we've got several of them.

Reeve's castings have been copied over the years. 'Not uncommon. That first t/guard in your pics is TRS's BP1 for instance. And on MB's castings his Dutch B/plate measures just like BP3 (mine) from TRS. The square backed T/guard looks just like the one I just bought from Mike. Personally I not...

I'm loving those RR pipes ! I've already made a note out in the shop about those. 'Looks like I'm the first guy to benefit from this thread I started to help out other guys. :-) Thanks for sharing. And, I'd neglected to mention the sheet brass option when I put up the B/Plate info. Thanks for...

Thank's for the compliment and the 'pass' on the posting hiccup. Anytime you see one of those HVF's pulled off nicely means someone put a lot of work into what they were going to do, and how they were going to do it, before they did it. Cheers!

HVF FURNITURE observations: This is TRS's catalogue from 2002 with the patterns I'd done back in the 90's and still being offered. Their website has no pics. so I put this up to maybe help out. So, lets begin; BP1 is a really nice standard sized b/plate in the Dutch style but too small for a...

Did the US purchase any German Military Muskets?

'Gotta love them Dutch! Always ready to help out their English 'friends'. Of course the English had no problem sending substandard arms to the colonies either (chuckle).

    Walnut Dust

'Depends on recipient of the dust as is evident by all the above posts. Black Walnut is a heavy tannin wood. A lot of plants won't grow under a Black walnut with all that tannin leaching out of the nut husks leaching out into the ground. It never really bothered me, but I don't like it either...

'Some bbl. info. I'd neglected to mention in the above, and the most critical re: balance in a very long gun. A: you can only take so much material out of a bbl. safely. B; the offset to the weight of that long bbl. is to build weight in from the forearm rearward. The closer to you the better...
