Would like info on this stock

I see a John Armstrong (Emmittsburg, Maryland) lefhand stock. That could be a Jacob Dickert as well, just different locks hardware, and decoration. If you're really interested, you need to be looking at books with photos of original rifles and not some duplicator's patterns named whatever...

SOLD .72 cal Virginia Jaeger flintlock. Posting problems. See description bellow

I have shot a 9# .69cal with 1oz balls and 140gr ffg Swiss. It wasn't much fun on the target range, but was a good hunting rifle for its owner. .710" prbs are gonna weigh about 535gr, so almost 1-1/4oz. At 11# with a straight stock and 2" wide buttplate, that shouldn't be too bad to shoot...

    old black powder

If the powder had gone bad, the can would show rust from the inside out. If it pours freely, shoot it. If it is somewhat clumped, break up the clumps and shoot it.

Pre Purchase Questions - barrel liners etc.

Two rear sights on a fowler? The underside of the barrel is marked "15", so 15 bore originally? Apparently someone converted a shotgun to rifle.

The GOEX Plant is shutting down

It appears that they have discontinued all of the single based shotshell powders, so 4756, 800x, PB, and 4759 are all gone. They HAD made IMR Blue that was to replicate Blue Dot, but that appears to have been discontinued. I shot some of the early, grey, odd granuled Elephant from Brazil, and...

    T/C New Englander

TC Tree Hawk rifled barrel also used the quick 1-20" (spec). IIRC, some odd TCs had a 1-38" twist, kinda thinking it was a ..50 WMC with QLA.

    Octagon to Round

I have seen numerous originals, octagon-round, some rifled, some smooth. At a recent show there was a long barreled, early Reading with sliding wood patchbox, a post-1800 Reading style with brass patchbox, an early Chambersburg Abraham Schweitzer with daisy patchbox, and a John Noll. Octagon...

    New gun options

The Kibler will be much easier and quicker to build. They are basically an "in the white that needs assembled and finished. IMO, the few extra $$ are well spent. .58 rifled would be my choice for hunting deer or larger game.

    Misfire

IMO, you never put powder in the bore before seating the ball in your .40. While it does sound like your vent is large, there is no way that the entire powder charge was blown out while seating the ball. Likewise, a "spit patch" wouldn't have dampened the entire powder charge in 30 seconds...

    BEST CONTAINERS

I bought "bulk" years ago and transferred it into cans that I had emptied previously. Stored in my garage, subject to significant humidity changes, the cans have rusted over time. I've since switched over to plastic sourced from a BPCR shooter.

    Original left handed guns

I have seen a few 19th century flintlocks that were made with left hand locks. Oddly, at least one of these rifles was built exactly as a right handed rifle should be with the exception of lock on the left side.

I didn't have ANY good bucks on camera all summer. It wasn't encouraging, but they started to appear in September, and then almost exclusively at night.
