50 cal TC 1:48 twist reasonable accuracy?

I find that with they shoot tighter groups with lighter charges. For targets I used to shoot between 50 & 65 grains by volume of FFG real black: I believe that more powder simply causes the ball/patch to skip or skid over/through the rifling. Also, if the OP isn’t wiping between shots, he will...

    why not the notch?

I load all six at the range too, or all nine in the case of my lemat, 10 if you count the shotgun barrel.

    why not the notch?

For me personally, another reason is having something rub the cylinder & rotate it so that the hammer is no longer between chambers. The pins aren’t the sturdiest things around & some inexpensive reproductions of the Remington type have too much slop/poor parts fitment for the hammer to actually...

    why not the notch?

I do not trust the pins on reproduction Colt revolvers. They’re not the sturdiest design & frankly, the parts in the reproductions are often softer than they should be. The reproduction Remington notches are theoretically safe but I’ve yet to see one in person where the parts fitment/tolerances...

No grouse was harmed in the making of this post

I took my NSW 24 gauge Trade Gun out for a walk to look for grouse. I missed the only one I saw, but it was still a wonderful evening with my family. Sorry, no grouse pics lol.

Has anyone used 1F in a rifle ?

I use it in shotguns & I have used it in my 72 cal double rifle. I suspect it would work fine in a 54, though I haven’t tried it.

    CCI 4 wing musket caps

I’ve always had good luck with CCI musket caps. Some deride them as only good for reenactment but they’ve always worked for me. Though, I’ve only used them with real black powder.

    Pedersoli .72 Double Rifle

I’ve used mine a lot & I really like it. I can use one rear sight for both barrels if I use a .715 PRB & 80 grains of FF Goex with a 1/2” fiber wad over powder. However, I wanted more oomph so I ended up sighting in one rear sight for each barrel. I also had to replace my front sight with a...
