Would you shoot this 1970's Japan import Tower Flint ?

Front sight is no prob. As mentioned, ribless shotguns are done that way. The rear sight I can't say for sure, but it doesn't seem likely you'd blow it off with a standard charge for a pistol that size. You might want to replace the rear sight screw with something of known quality that goes as...

    FLINTS

I wear this. Overkill perhaps, but it's what I had around. :dunno:

    Large siler lock.

Looks like Track is out of the 3/4x7/8 right now. These Guys seem to have some in stock.

    FLINTS

Nearly every place has something. Novaculite, jasper, agate, quartz, etc. will all spark. Though most of these may not be as durable as proper flint, they can keep you shooting in a pinch.

Does anyone produce a matchlock kit?

As far as I know, all TRS's parts are made in-house at their place in Oklahoma.

    History correct?

Thank you. I have the same knife and have been thinking of stripping it to bare steel and re-handling it in wood.

    Bacon

How about a portrait of Kevin Bacon made from strips of bacon? 😄 hrt4me That H&A is really nifty. Thanks for the excellent pics. 👍

    Stuck wedge

A horrible feeling, eh? Things happen. I put a nice scratch on my Bess's stock with a screwdriver while replacing the tang bolt when I was experimenting with adding a rear sight. I just added a bit of stain to darken it and make it less noticeable. For future reference, a tight wedge is best...

No More Gun Building Videos on You Tube

I agree about gunstreamer or full30. Youtube is really only useful nowadays for watching funny cat videos and old public domain B movies or for finding out how to beat that video game level you've been stuck on for weeks. Beyond that, the rules are seemingly so arbitrary and fleeting that you...

    History correct?

Not an answer but a question of my own, if you don't mind? How did you get the black coating off the Ontario's blade, or had that been done before you bought it?

    My eyes are going bad!

I picked up something called an Eyepal on ebay a couple years back for about $20. It's a small disc of thin vinyl with a tiny peep in the center that sticks your glasses via static (you get two of them in the pack). It took a fair bit of fiddling to find the right spot for the one I currently...

    Rifle or military musket

I don't know about the other Pedersoli muskets, but their Bess isn't a particularly close clone of an original, or at least not of a standard one. There's speculation it may have been cloned from a commercial or other non-standard historical example, but who knows? It was close enough for my...

Best methods pouring round balls and/or gear recommendations

Another tip: every so often you'll get a bit of something in the spout that will impede the flow, so when you lift the handle the lead will come out in a weak dribble or at an odd angle or not at all. The couple times this has happened to me, I've used a bent paperclip to push up into the spout...

Best methods pouring round balls and/or gear recommendations

I use a Lee 10lb pot exclusively right now. Here are the instructions: Click Here Note their recommendation (second page under "Directions") about turning the valve rod back and forth with a screwdriver a few times to clear out the spout and stop leaks (also noted above by Bigfoot). It really...

    That looks perfect to me.

    M&G Lock

They seem comparable in size to a large Siler (a bit over 5" long and a but under 1" wide at the plate), so I'd guess 3/4x7/8 flint?

    Squirrel + nachos = squachos? 😄 Nice shooting. 👍

.31 caliber balls for buckshot load?

Buckshot is only legal here for things like coyotes and bobcats. Anything larger (deer, elk, mountain lion, bear, etc.) requires slugs if using a shotgun. Even javelina (due to their incredible durability despite their small size) require slugs under AZ law. To the op, no reason you...

    Pedersoli Harpers Ferry load?

Click Here, scroll down for handgun data. Pedersoli recommends 40 grains max for your pistol (no granulation mentioned). I shoot 35 grains under a .530 ball in my .54 smoothbore percussion model, which is Pedersoli's max recommended load, though I've seen one guy on youtube load his up to 45...
