    First crude horn

nice smooth lines, great transitions, no bumps or jinks... i'd say it looks great, and i really like the color. now i have a crude horn ... it picks its nose in public, tells dirty jokes in polite company and farts excessively

    Making a Powder Horn: Scrimshaw

nice work! i like, especially, the thing about the shading, and the thing about the three foot distance ... i have a bad habit of 'getting lost in the weeds,' which sometimes works, but sometimes looks a bit 'off' when you look at it from across the room. thank you for the posts :)

HELP! Prussian Blue in wife's carpet!`

i would recommend that you "take it like a man." "Honey, I'm really sorry that i stained your carpet, and the guy will come out to measure it for replacement in a few says. Do you want to go with the same color?" no cute excuses, flowers or chocolate assortments is going to fix this.

Making a Powder Horn (Part 1)

looks good ... if i could comment: = i used a heat gun once and it was pretty much a disaster ... i keep the heat gun for thawing frozen pipes and such, but to soften a horn, i use a beat up old frydaddy (you can get them at yard sales and such, or, if you can't find one there, you can go to a...

Butt Plate and Toe Plate for Bucks County Rifle

i don't have a photo of a finished rifle, but here's what the Track of the Wolf plate looks like ... not to sound disparaging, but yours looks weird ... it's supposed to be axially symmetric, to the best of my knowledge...

    First Time. TC Hawken

i would get all the "real" blackpowder that i could, but at that price point, you might want to consider making your own (if it's legal in Canada - i don't know) ... it's said to be legal here in the US, but i don't want to find out the hard way when the BATFE comes to my door in the wee hours...

Kibler will use a blank that you supply ... his work is first- rate, and (if i remember correctly) he will cut you a discount for supplying your own wood.

Is it uncool to use Pyrodex?

i usually try to avoid being overly introspective about such things, but i would hazard that if you are worried about being "cool" or "uncool," and this works down to the level of what powder you're firing, you might be at the range for the wrong reasons... use what works best for you: if subs...

    Winter Shooting

oh, this whole post is making me cold just reading it ... it's pouring rain and about 40 F here in southeast Vermont ... wind blew over my woodpile last night ... used to be dependable frozen over by this point ... hope it doesn't mess with the bears' sleep cycle ...
