Wider Wedge Anyone
I've been through something similar with an Armi San Paulo .36. Somehow the previous owner neglected giving me the history of his frustrations with the gun. Then again, if he'd divulged that info, I'd probably not have bought it, or would have paid him much less. The arbor on mine was short... -

Yeah, I know - it's pretty weird having unfired pistols. Part of the problem is I have to go an hour and a half or two or more to anywhere I can shoot. And then I get nervous that I'd go all the way out there and be missing something, or something won't work right and it'd all be for nothing... -

It seems most of mine don't contact the nipple. They come very close, but don't contact. I'd heard elsewhere the best condition is a thousandth or two gap between the nipple and hammer so the nipple doesn't get hammered and deformed. -

Did I overpay for this Colt Signature Series?
Truth be told from what I've heard, even the original Colts were often produced elsewhere. The big question is whether they were produced to Colts standards. And the serial numbers were stamped that way because that's how the originals were stamped. Maybe it was to keep everything together... -

Making a wedge for the 1860
I'm feeling better about making my own wedge. Thanks, guys! As for angling the sides of the wedge, I see no reason both sides should be angled. Angling only the front side is necessary since it contacts only one point - the front of the arbor slot. It won't hurt anything to angle both sides... -

Cylinder Chamfering
I just noticed the Colt second generation Dragoon has chamfered chambers. They look steeper than a 45, perhaps 60, and might be 1/32" - just guessing. -
