What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

@Icemanxxxv it oughta come back in stock within a few weeks. It comes and goes. I got my order of 5 yards about two weeks ago. Washed it and rinsed it twice, then ironed it. It’s ready to go when I need it.

    New to Muzzleloaders!

You don’t need an expensive outfit to get started. If you ask around, you might find a rifle that’s fit to shoot for a pittance…. Most of the accoutrements can be homemade. Most of us on this forum started out that way, and continue that way. Making stuff is actually simpler than it looks...

    Gardening ..again

That would be a “Southern Peeler” bird…. Your crop is doomed. Once one shows up, they bring their friends. Naaaa. I just made that up. 😬. That is kinda weird, tho!

    Smoothbore wadding ...

We don’t have the round nesting hornets around here in Middle TN that I know of. I’ve never seen one in the wild. Maybe they’re out there, but I’ve never run across one. On the other hand, we have red wasps and yellow jackets that make the flat paper nests. They’re fairly plentiful. I’ve...

FOR SALE WTS Pedersoli 12ga double

I have one of those made in 1988. The comparison discussion about 6 lb verses 8lb guns made me wonder what I have, so I just weighed it. 7 lbs 2 oz without the ramrod. So, mine would be a “Tweener”, I reckon.

    What’s up with the holes

My guess is it’s another case of, “Someone trying to justify their existence.” Probably with “Esq.” by their name.

    What is drill cloth?

It’s sooooo much easier to just order it. Free shipping, and you don’t have to go thru the employees not knowing what or where it is, or pay for the gas and wear and tear to get there.

This simple idea was and still is genius.

If I had one, I’d name it, “Skeletor”…

    Drill Cloth = FantasticI

I got an email and text that says my 5 yard order is in my mailbox. Just gotta get up the gumption to go get it. Been slaving away, making and fletching some river cane target arrows.

    In hot water?

I usually run two or three dampened patches followed by an oil dampened patch at the range and then do the rest at home. Mostly wet patches ‘til they come out clean (ish), then lightly oil. Oily patches to clean the lock and lock area. Seems to work out.

    What’s up with the holes

I use defarbed tins a lot (paint burned off), and it’s really disappointing how all the good tins that used to be available for recycling are not usable at all. How am I to use a CCI tin to hold some grease if it has holes in it? Can’t use Altoid tins anymore since they started embossing...
