What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Ordered 5 yards of Unbleached Cotton Drill from Joann's for $20 with free shipping. Item #: 683532. $21.85 with tax. I got it from their website. The stores nearby didn't have it in stock. This is sometimes referred to as "#40 Pocket Drill" that's .018 thick. The gals in the store didn't...

New/ old member: Hello all, I am Doc Cox from S Texas.

Welcome from Middle Tennessee! I’d love to see some of your rendezvous pictures…. If you have a newer cell phone, you can just take a picture of a picture to digitize it. It usually helps to take the printed photo out from behind the cellophane of your scrapbooks if they’re made that way, and...

I am an *****. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

You really shouldn’t be using a brass brush in a ML barrel. Dampened patches with plain water works fine on a cleaning jag to soften and remove fouling, although everyone has their favorite magic solution.

No idea how it relates to authenticity to a period, or if that even matters to you, That looks pretty cool! I like it. What tool(s) did you use to create the stipples?

I always though it came off easier when it's humid. Seems to keep it soft.

I cringe every time I have to use a glovers needle for anything. Bloodshed is sure to follow! Seed beads usually have to be sewn with very thin, long, plain needles that generally have a longish eye. You’d poke thru the leather just enuf to get a good purchase on it. Not so shallow that it...

IS THIS A SAFE SHOOTING BARREL?

Looks like a pretty nice rifle. Make sure it doesn't already have a load in it before you load it. pointed in a safe direction, prime the pan and spark it off to make sure it doesn't fire from someone leaving it loaded. It's also pretty easy to see if there's a load already in it by using...

    Whats Everybody Doing?

I’ve been working on longbows lately. Built myself a German style shave horse and knocked out a kids bow for practice. It turned out okay. Better than I expected, and the broken limb was only in a dream I had the night after I finished tillering it. 😱 48" 16" draw length 13 lb draw weight

I’ve had to remove a ball from my SMR a couple of times. Don’t need a ball puller. Just make sure the vent hole is cleaned out as best you can with a pick. Make sure the pan is dry. Drop several grains of 4f in the pan, lean gun over to put the powder next to the vent hole, close frizzen...

    Gardening ..again

I've canned some yellow squash, green beans, pickles, asparagus, creamed corn and some mulberry jelly so far. And, froze some whole ear corn. If the heat stays away a little, I might get some ripe tomatoes enuf to make some sauce for canning. Finally getting some starting to turn. Maters...

.32 caliber frustrations with not grouping.

I think the .32 cal gun might just be acting contrary because you picked “40calFlintlock” as your screen name. 32’s have feelings, too. Just not as large.
