My three quarter scale Revolutionary War carriage.

Sometimes it is very hard to put a price on your craftsmanship. In trying to make some items myself I understand the blood and sweat that goes into a project, especially the first set of spoke wagon wheels. And it would be nice to leave some of your work behind so your child can say my Dad made...

    Pietta 1863 Pocket Remington issues

I agree with your findings. Since you have made sure the hammer is making contact with the nipple by backing a couple out, that does not leave much left other than the hammer force. Which is controlled by the spring. You might find you can feel the difference between the smaller and full size.

It probably won't shoot, why have the disappointment. I'll take it off your hands.

    Swivel gun stand?

This style cannon just does not seem safe for heavy loading. It can be a lot of fun, but be careful with that cannon. Maybe a tripod stand with enough spread? An old wood survey stand might be worth looking at.

Just remember, no heat till you get the lead and possible powder removed first.

    1860 arbor removed

I am sorry, but the arbor is very important to be strong and perfectly straight.

    1860 arbor removed

There is only one true way to correct at this point as I see. The frame needs to be put in a milling machine. The threaded hole needs to be indicated round and plum. and then a new recessed shoulder established for a new arbor that will have a precision spacer to contact the shoulder on the...

    1860 arbor removed

New to me also, need picture of frame. Present arbor could be used as template for making new one, or the trash can.

    Rampart carriage built I guess

Well this is a good size cannon. You are going to get a big bang with this cannon. I like the use of square nuts, looks nice.

    Brass cleaner/polishjust can't

To erase a whole winter of neglect? Sorry, you are obviously going to need many cans.

    muzzle loaders...........

Well we are still light for a Army yet, but I can add to the line up a couple cannons. Actually that is a good size herd to keep clean and take care of, you are lucky. And get to work on that kit.

    Fortification carriage build

Looks like you are closer to a big bang. Round wheels from a table saw. Nice job.

    1860 Colt Hammer Redo

Don't make much difference what you call them, just so you know how to use them. Making your own reamers qualifies your position.

    1860 Colt Hammer Redo

I am lucky enough to have 2 spin fixtures. The one in this posting is a Penn Tool 5C collet index and is about 35 years old. The imported ones are very nice. My other indexer shown below is a Brown and Sharpe and has a small 4 jaw chuck, and is old. I would not want to chose which one to keep as...

    Shop made cannons

If you haven't done so yet spend some time looking at past posts on model and full size cannons. There are a lot of ideas buried in the cannon postings. Some might be very pretty and some with just the purpose of going bang and everywhere in between. And then try to make yourself a plan. Looks...
