    Replica research

You have a High Standard replica of the Confederate made Leech & Rigdon. HS made several others in a "Guns of the Confederacy" line that I believe included a "Lee & Grant" pair of 1851 navy models. Several of their Confederate guns were available in wood cases, one with a Bowie knife & one with...

    Don't Carve That Stock!

Mediocre carving and/or highly personal decorations typically have a highly negative effect on a gun's value. Now if Theodore Rosevelt scratched his initials into a gunstock with a blunt nail, the value would go up, not because of the "decoration" but because it connects that specific gun to a...

    Don't Carve That Stock!

There is use and there is abuse. Nothing wrong with honest use, but a gun that has been abused in one way likely has other issues as well. I was brought up with the understanding that if you were fortunate enough to have a gun, that you took good care of it.

Edited by Bradburn & Coombs - 350 pages "Of Consuming Interests" - "the Style of Life in the 18th Century" UVa...

    About Selling Books

What something sold for in the past is not a good indicator of what it is worth today. Styles and interests change & some things go way up & others become hard to give away. Books are no exception. Bookfinder.com searches 1000s of sellers & will give you a good idea what different titles are...

Is there a way to postpone cleaning a ml?

As a boat person, I can attest that stainless steel is neither stainless nor rust free. A more accurate description would be rust resistant. Requires less effort to maintain, yes, for sure, but not none.

Is there a way to postpone cleaning a ml?

I heard not to use Bud Light for cleaning as it is corrosive.

    A controversial topic...

I don't mind the smell of Ballistol at all but when want that clean gun smell, I prefer to whif Hoppes #9. Sort of like Old Spice, it brings back fond memories of cleaning guns in the basement with my grandfather.
