    Kit v. Factory

Not a concern. I buy what I want and build for me. Someday some one might get a deal at an auction but I'll be long gone and could care less. This is a hobby. I don't do it for profit.

    Kit v. Factory

I just bought an unfinished kit; NOS CVA big bore, sold on this site. I have every intention of building and shooting it. Not collecting things to sit in a box.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I just received a CVA Big Bore 54 cal kit from member bptactical. It arrived via UPS as stated, well wrapped and complete. Bptactical was great to deal with. Thanks and kudos!

Draw filed the flats on my PA Fowler. May hold off to brown it once the inevitable heat and humidity rise in NC.

Sometimes you forget that you can just start over

Nice color. I have never been that happy with the very, overly dark browning. But your version 2.0 is much better, in my opinion.

    Spectators

Yep, as best we can, we have to keep rekindling this sport of ours. People sometimes lack social skills to recognize that this is your pastime, and not you responsibility to stop on a dime to teach.

    Primers

Buying one hundred is economically difficult with shipping and Hazmat. i try to mix/match to get 3 or 4 thou at a time. Still looking for the elusive large rifle or worse, lg rifle magnum. But they will be back soon enough.

Breathing a little easier, Wis? Often these posts end in "They cashed my check and never heard from them again..."

    checkering tools

https://shop.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/other-tools/stock-tools/premier-checkering-set/ A little (lot) pricey but a complete set. I'd recommend getting a couple single tools and practicing.

    A Creative Burst

So beautiful in its simplicity. And to complete it so quickly, you were on a true roll.

    Loading stand

Hard to imagine breaking a pistol stock while loading in a fixed position, but I am weak! Nice idea Phil

    Stuck Ramrod

If the rod is that warped, best to get a new one. But you could try sanding the ramrod if the warp is minimal.

Wonder Just How Many Ways Can One Load a Smoothbore...??

As always, so fun to watch. It is a little humbling considering how much (wasted) time we spend pontificating on the thickness of the cardboard wad, or the method of weighing shot, or sprue location or... Heck I was gonna ask how many grams of grass he was using!

    Old fella on the line.

Some of my fondest memories of residency after med school was being on weekend call at the local VA hospital. Sit and talk with those guys and a whole new world opens up. Most are gone (WWII and Korea), but any place there is a vet, a great story will follow. And inside the VA hospital, stories...
