    Best lead for casting ball?

I have used wheel weights to cast round ball for my 1858. They seem to work fine. But they say they are hardened to some degree by being alloyed with a small amount of tin and or antimony

    Best lead for casting ball?

I use a pair of pruning loppers to chop up my 1 lb ingots so they will fit inside of my ladle and then I use a propane torch to melt about 2 oz at a time. Need to get me a melt pot one of these days

    Best lead for casting ball?

Bite the bullet so to speak and go to roto metals and order some pure soft lead. I got 5 lb the other day for $20. Another source that is said to be pure lead and I have used it before with good results..... Is soil stack flashing from roofs. It's pretty expensive to buy just for that purpose...

    char cloth

I know it isn't char cloth but I thought I would throw this in for anyone that likes to start fire with a farro rod. Get you some cotton balls and saturate them with Vaseline. Take a plastic straw and burn it shut at one end and cut you a piece about an inch and a half. Now stuff it full of...

    Who has derringers?

I just got one of the NAA companion super cap and ball 22 revolvers. They cost a premium but they are very nice. 100% stainless except for the grips

    A Quick GOEX Update

I'm sold on powder valley myself. No minimum order amount and the Swiss was $32 and the hazmat is 20 up to 48 lb I believe.

    A Quick GOEX Update

I just ordered some and it was $32. But what are you going to do besides make it yourself? They did have the Schutzen for $23 a pound. I've never used Swiss before but have read good things about it so I figured since they're raping me over a barrel to begin with I might as well throw in the...

    A Quick GOEX Update

I recently read that goex produces large amounts of powder for the US military and that the military contracts will be filled before the sporting goods powder is produced. Assuming what I read is accurate.... Evidently the military uses about a million pounds of black powder a year. Supposedly...

Graf & Sons has free Hazmat and free shipping now on black powder.

I wonder why sometimes when you buy things on the internet you are charged a sales tax and sometimes you are not? My little companion super I ordered had no sales tax which was good because it was over 300.

    Who has derringers?

My pew pew is coming tomorrow. The 250 that come with the kit should easily last me that long. Have to order me about 750 or 1,000 when they come in.

Graf & Sons has free Hazmat and free shipping now on black powder.

I just bought 2 lb from powder valley. Both were Swiss and after the $20 hazmat and taxes and shipping and everything else... That was 112 bucks. I wish I would have seen this first but looking at grafs it also appears that they have a minimum of four or five pounds. Which is far more than I...

Graf & Sons has free Hazmat and free shipping now on black powder.

I just went there to search for Swiss powder and this is what I found. And also appears they have a minimum four or was it 5 lb purchase? It says like $12 and something shipping and a $23 hazmat fee

    Who has derringers?

10-4 I wonder about the feasibility of the 25 caliber ones? I wonder if the loading lever could swage them in for a tight fit? You know us muzzleloaders, always thinking about alternatives for supply chain issue. If it did swage them in, I'm sure a good chunk of lead would be shaved off.

    So..... why a muzzleloading?

By God, if it was good enough for my granddaddy's granddaddy I reckon it ought to be good enough for me too !

    Who has derringers?

I was thinking these could work pretty good. Almost 30 g and they have a dish shape base so they should probably obturate very well. They also appear to have a very good hollow point and they are slug shape. Certainly not your typical air gun pellet. I'm just wondering about the fact that they...

    Who has derringers?

Can't wait to get mine this coming week. Perhaps maybe one grain of 3F down in the bottom and the remaining three grains 4F? That shouldn't do anything dangerous should it?

    Who has derringers?

I was looking to see if they sold the 777 in a ffffg granulation but evidently the fffg is the smallest they produce. I went ahead and splurged on a pound of ffffg swiss. Figured that will last me the better part of forever.

    Who has derringers?

It says on their website to call to order. I think number for buckshot and the 22 air gun slugs are your best bet other than the factory made ammo.

    Who has derringers?

It seems like it would be kind of hard to miss center Mass from 5 foot with any sort of firearm.

    Who has derringers?

It says that the super companion comes with an extra cylinder with nipples installed and 250 projectiles and a leather flap civil war type holster, the powder measure and the bullet loading press, a small leather bullet pouch and of course the case. I have heard about the number 4 buckshot...
