Not political. Not conspiratorial.
I bought five more pounds from Powder Valley of Schuetzen FFFG for a total of 28.73/pound. That includes shipping, hazmat, signature fee, and tax.
The 1989 dollar is worth 3.68 today, which would make the deal I got better than a ten dollar can in 1980, which would be the equivalent of 36.80 today.
Big thanks to Kyron4 for the heads up.
In reference to the original topic, I have no idea what GOEX intends to do. It’s a shame we aren’t producing here in the States.
-Red, poppin’ tags…
When I was shooting MLs in early 70s [first retired], diesel for my Mercedes was about .12 cents a gallon; gas? around .23 cents. Now? Asi es la vida. Polecat

All I have to say is this....

I get that Estes Energetics has had some 'hurdles' to overcome. But if they don't get off their butts and produce some powder for the citizens vs the DoD, they may find that they won't have a citizen market. More and more shooters are figuring out through necessity that Schuetzen Powder is a good and equal substitute for the old Goex. I know I have.

I saw their site yesterday, have you had any dealings with them in the past?
Powder Inc, Graf&Sons, and Buffalo Arms are all good people and I have purchased from them all.
There is another in Texas (Antique firearms?) I have heard good reports but never used them, worth adding to your list per reviews

Powder inc had the best prices if you order 25 lbs, but Grafs is slightly lower if you order less than 25 lbs. Figure out how much you want and calculate prices with shipping and hazmat included. I bought 25 lbs last month and 12 lbs of Swiss that was delivered last week. The delivered price for the 12 lbs Swiss was $34/lb

Statement on the Maine Powder House Web site:
6/8/2023 – Good evening! Dealers received an email from GOEX on their progress. The email wasn’t full of much information, other than to say GOEX is back in production, but are processing some government contracts first. No update on when they will start production on sporting powder, hoping they will give us an update by the end of the month.

Traveler's Antiques. They buy schuetzen in bulk a repackage it to sell at a pretty good price, but their shipping/hazmat is a bit higher.

I just got this less than an hour ago. Good thing I am well stocked at this point. That expensive powder I bought the last couple of years isn't looking so expensive now!

....AND WE ARE STILL WAITING....
Yes, in case you have not heard, GOEX production date was pushed back again.

GOEX dealers were informed the new projected production date is end of June. If they are able to make this happen, this means they will not start shipping product out to dealers until earliest August. GOEX has also informed us prices will be going up, but they have yet to give us a new price list.

Schuetzen and Swiss containers are here in the US, however their prices have gone up 17% and 22% respectively. This price increase was a surprise to all of us...including the distributor. Current prices listed as of the date of this email DO NOT reflect the 17% & 22% increases.

Maine Powder House current inventory on black powder is very low. I will be working with the Schuetzen/Swiss distributor on a new order, however it will be a limited order due to the anticipation of GOEX getting back in business sometime this fall.

Check the website for details as I will keep that up-to-date for everyone.
I recently read that goex produces large amounts of powder for the US military and that the military contracts will be filled before the sporting goods powder is produced.

Assuming what I read is accurate.... Evidently the military uses about a million pounds of black powder a year. Supposedly they use it to prime artillery cartridges.

The highest price I've paid, is $7.50/lb for Swiss, and I thought that was high!
I just ordered some and it was $32.
But what are you going to do besides make it yourself? They did have the Schutzen for $23 a pound.

I've never used Swiss before but have read good things about it so I figured since they're raping me over a barrel to begin with I might as well throw in the extra $10....

Had to go back and check the prices, but the last order I made with Graf & Sons a month or so ago came out to $34.40/lbs. Order was mostly Swiss plus several pounds of Schuetzen. Haven’t checked prices since that order.
I'm sold on powder valley myself. No minimum order amount and the Swiss was $32 and the hazmat is 20 up to 48 lb I believe.

Well Goex has never been the equal of Schuetzen/Graf powder in velocity. Old Eyn. was in there with it. Swiss is the best but prices are running high now per pound. By the time Goex gets powder made to sell to ML folks, maybe next year. I have my samolian funds near ready to buy. I am going to save up a bit more n when the free Haz. n shipping come back. I will get 12 lbs. of Swiss 3 F

I was waiting for Goex to start back up but today stocked up on enough 3F from Grafs to last me a few years. If Goex ever gets back in business they should offer a grand reopening deal to win back some business but my guess is they won’t, no one really appreciates loyalty or customers anymore.

A Free bumper sticker with every order to the first one hundred!
