    SOLD 1732 John Baskett Bible

I have an original Baskett Bible printed in 1732 for sale. I purchased this decades ago from a antique store in the Mohawk Valley of NY. Obviously missing the front cover and straps that would have held it closed but it's seems like very few if any pages are missing. Contains birth and death...

    1700's Fusil Musket identification

No expert but I'm going to throw out there Dutch, but a hunting gun not musket. It was somewhat common for well off men to have guns for hunting with bayonets. Seen it on Dutch and German arms. I don't see anything that says military to me. Either way it's a great piece.

    SOLD Ben Hoffman belt axe

This is one of Ben Hoffmans from Hoffman's Reproductions 1750's belt axe or pole axe. It's a F&I period axe, but was used throughout the 18th century. Overall length 16.25", head length 6", blade width 2.5". This has seen some use, and the head wiggles just a little. Sure it can be snuggled up...

    order of operations.

Yup it can be done either way. If your stock is in the square, I'd do it now, but take off the excess material on either side of the barrel, not to final dimension, but to lessen the wood you have to drill through. Easier to drill an accurate hole through less wood, than thicker. Less chance of...

    SOLD Zihn Hawken for Sale

I purchased this rifle about 4 months ago from a fellow shooter over on the American Longrifle forum. He received it from Mr. Zihn in 2020. I haven't shot it yet, and have to sell it now to fund some repairs to a greenhouse before Spring. Has a 33" 15/16" straight Green Mountain barrel in .54...

    I need some ideas

Even in the past Farmers could be very successful. Most would delve into other income streams as well. But I see what you mean, the true subsistence farmer probably would not have had as fancy rifle, more than likely a smoothbore IMHO. Maybe the OP can tell us how successful his farmer is.

    Anybody have this problem

Man sized target, I agree, sadly for me I was attempting to use it deer hunting. Small target zones just disappear. This was a nice October day when I was practicing. So later in the season I might get away with more shots. Yes while hurting I'll only fire one shot, no issue with sight...

    Anybody have this problem

Actually it's got a aged finish of tincture of iodine and blueing. When I had the barrel made it was made with thin walls as the original was. Maybe that has something to do with it. It heats up fast, not like hot to the touch, but just makes almost like a mirage at the front sight after 3...

    Anybody have this problem

The only gun I have left from when I used to build guns is a New England Fowler with a 55 inch barrel. I love the gun, but it's hard to shoot because after a shot or two, the heat dissapating from the length of the barrel actually distorts my front sight. I made the sight a small sliver of...
