Speaking of conicals, if you don't cast your own No Excuses can fix you up with some pretty good ones. They've been around quite awhile. Dave is a big-time smokepole hunter.

RWS 1075 were sometimes too small for my TC #11 nipples. One hammer strike to seat them and the next to set them off. My Italian nipples seem smaller so they fit better.

I have noticed after reinstalling my barrel it has to be "settled in" with several shots to get back where it was so I only pull them about once or twice a year. I'm saving powder and lead!😂

When I put a musket nipple on my Dixie Hawken the slight forward misalignment meant the hammer wouldn't hit the cap. Oxy/acetylene torch fixed it fast!👍

Not beautiful but good, straight shooters.

I had similar problems with my new Dixie Hawken. Talked to their Smith and he had me send the stock and lock back. Came back under 2 weeks working fine. They stand behind their products.👍

I've burned a lot of 3f in my 54's with patched round balls. 90 grains was deadly accurate and certainly not over pressure.

Let's talk about dumb luck shots. I had a trigger job done on my unmentionable 44 mag and was driving up in the hills with my brother when a gopher ran across the dirt 2 track and stopped at it's hole.
