But how could you possibly enjoy it knowing the barrel rib was short? I can't in good conscience put someone through that anguish. 😁

    Traditions

I just ran into the same problem on the Traditions Frontier kit I started. Maybe that's why it was on sale? I doubt anyone else would ever notice it, but I have to fix it for my own sanity! 🙂

    Capper for RWS caps?

I got mine on eBay. There are a few printers/sellers. Just search "percussion capper" and sort by lowest price first.

    Capper for RWS caps?

My favorite capper now is those 3D printed "stars". If I file the width down a tiny bit, it fits a Remington no problem.

Appropriate cylinder gap for Colt revolvers

Not certain, but speculating: It all depends on their process/work flow/equipment, but maybe they feel their scrap rate will be too high if they have to hold tolerance on the arbor length & barrel hole depth. Or maybe they feel they can't devote enough time or manpower to fitting the two...

My 1851 uberti navy arrived a day early.

Out of my three Uberti's, the best was .060" short and the worst was .090" short. The middle one was made in the first quarter of 2023, so if they've fixed their process, it's very recent.

    Colt/Uberti .31 accurasy

Uberti's website shows one with a square back, but perhaps it was made only for Colt? https://www.ubertireplicas.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/1848-baby-dragon-inox_1528181.jpg

    Colt/Uberti .31 accurasy

They're all the same size. If you look close at @CaptainVane 's photo, the 1848 has oval cylinder stops. Obviously there's no loading lever, and sometimes they can be had with a square back trigger guard. The 1849 has rectangular cylinder stops, with a loading lever. The 1849 "Wells Fargo" has...

    REN Wax

I think Ren Wax can charge the high price they do because it is one of the only (if not the only) waxes intended for conservation of bare metal items. As such, it is pH neutral. By comparison, I looked at the SDS for one of my favorites, Collinite 885, and it's got a pH of about 5. That's...

    Colt Dragoon Light Hammer Strike?

If you don't have lipstick, Sharpie marker or marking dye (Dykem) will work. Hi-spot blue (Prussian blue) would work too but it's messy. Fun fact: a single layer of Sharpie ink is about 0.00014" thick.

    Who has derringers?

Well I'll be darned, I got mine for about $240 on GB, too. Only good deal I've had there yet! 😁

It happened again today at the public range...........

OK, I'll just point out then that the main actress, Amber Midthunder, is part of the Navajo tribe (although her mother is Thai)

It happened again today at the public range...........

One recent movie I can think of is Prey (2022). A predator (you know, the alien kind 😁) comes to Earth around 1719 and hunts a group of Comanche and some French voyageurs. The Frenchmen have flintlocks naturally.

I also use .380 balls, but with 15 grains of Triple 7

    Traditions Kentucky rifle build

Nice! Lucky you, your forestock appears to have a decent grain pattern. I'm jealous, mine was weird on one side. 😁

Is the black powder revolver industry dying out?

Yeah, the Gunbroker prices are kind of crazy. I got a 1849 Well Fargo for a reasonable price, but otherwise things keep going too high. That's why when Midway had Uberti 1860's on sale for $319.99 I had to jump on it!

    Steel in India-made muskets- MH

Suspect? By comparison, Traditions Firearms is supposedly using 12L14*, one of the softest steels you can get in bar stock. Given how much machining is required, it's probably not even cold-rolled. *On the Kentucky and some others anyway. I see their more expensive rifles advertise chromoly...

    French Wheellocks

The anti-French sentiment in this thread is appalling! For shame! I'm kidding, of course. ;) My last name traces back to 16th century northern France.
