    NRA Pronouncement re: LaPierre

He was in a position of trust and should be held accountable. CEOs are not immune from personal criminal liability. There should be criminal charges and a civil lawsuit to get the money back from either his scalp, hide or his personal assets.

    My Mail Lady.....

I have a friend who buys lead and has it shipped to him. I simply struck up a deal with a local scrap metal yard. I can trade aluminum, steel or pay cash for lead. They call or text when they get pure lead. I pay the going rate at St. Louis, they don't have to haul it and I don't pay to ship it.

The NRA's The Guns Of "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

I didn't care for his compromises either, however we won't have to worry about him anymore, he stepped down as president. "NRA leader resigns after claims he misappropriated funds to pay for opulent lifestyle The longtime leader of the National Rifle Association has stepped down. Wayne...

The NRA's The Guns Of "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

I'm a hold out on going paperless too. I like the hard copy of the American Rifleman. However, if they done the online or reader version correctly it could be done very nicely with a search feature and an enlarged print. I'm not old, but old enough to be stubborn about going paperless. 😁...

The NRA's The Guns Of "The Outlaw Josey Wales"

The current (March) edition of American Rifleman has an article "I Reckon So" The Guns Of "The Outlaw Josey Wales". By Philip Schreier the Director of the NRA's National Firearms Museum. Not a bad article, it's worth reading, but could just as easily been title "The Chase for Movie...

    Gunbroker Unscrupulous Sellers

I was deceived once on gunbroker, I got my money back, so I won't say I was ripped off. I purchased a Renegade, the pictures showed a near mint .54 caliber Renegade with nice wood. I recieved a rust bucket Renegade with a stock that appeared to be chewed by a beaver is was dented so bad. I...

Breech plug removal. Jag and cloth stuck in barrel

If you ever remove one. I don't remember who told me, but their idea works well; strip out and use an aluminum can as a shim in the corners of the T/C tool. It will prevent damage to the breechplug as the aluminum takes the bulk of the force leaving the breechplug pristine.

Breech plug removal. Jag and cloth stuck in barrel

I've removed and replaced a few on the T/C Hawken and Renegade models. T/C made a tool for the breech plug, they can be found on eBay and Rice makes vice jaws so the barrel doesn't get messed up. Have you tried to shoot it out by removing the nipple and trickling in a little powder? Install the...

Thinking I am going to thumbtack this one!

I have the answer to this one boys...it's because the director said so!!! It's always because the director said so!!! Seriously though, I believe it's the rifle after he made John Colter's run. Although it's been awhile since I've watched the movie. If you haven't read Notchy Bob's post in...

Thinking I am going to thumbtack this one!

Bill Tyler's rifle, played by Charlton Heston as seen at the NRA museum in Fairfax, Virginia. Some thumb tacks on this rifle. I would look for real brass tacks, not just the brass coated steel tacks.

    Do you gut your deer?

I've been gutting my deer since I took my 1st one in 1996. This year was a little different as 1st firearm season was unusually warm, so I tried the gutless method with the assistance of the John Deere tractor. Quick, easy and in the freezer to cool down by 9am. Will I do it this way every year...

    My 1st Ruger Old Army

I've personally never completed such a task, however I did watch a buddy of mine, William "Bill" Gentry repair a Ruger Blackhawk cylinder that was under dimension using the method you described. It worked great and once completed the accuracy imporoved greatly. Smart, very smart!

Green Mountain TC Renegade barrel swap

Several potential fixes for this situation. I've notched the stock just enough for the barrel to set in place, one could remove enough matterial from the stock as a whole (rather than just notch it), or remove the underrib and grind it down some so it will fit.

    My 1st Ruger Old Army

My friend, I can tell by your post that your a more accomplished machinist than me. I would turn the barrel to proper diameter and thread with a die. I could probably pull that off on the Southbend 9" lathe. My concern with using a rifle barrel and I'm going off of memory here; Pistol barrels in...

    My 1st Ruger Old Army

    Having enough barrel to reline is certainly a concern. I'm on the email waiting list at Chaszel for a barrel blank. They have a non-chambered option. Specs are as follows;

    My 1st Ruger Old Army

Interesting information, tbe barrel I was looking at was 1 in 12. Thank you! I love those Centennial models, I have a Single Six in stainless. I agree his wisdom is sound. To be honest I'm going to shoot it, we have a 3 day weekend coming up and I think I'll take advantage of it. It's not...

    My 1st Ruger Old Army

I tried taking pictures again, but couldn't see the bulge. Thanks, I was assuming that's what happened, a squib load the another normal load by a previous owner. Glad you confirmed it. 👍 I've read that on the Ruger Forum. It was also mentioned that a 3rd generation Colt barrel (New...
